I'm 1 year away from finishing my BCom in accounting. I have taken enough project management type courses to fufill the 35 hours and take the CAPM exam. For business work exp I have had a job in budgeting/planning for a real estate/property management company, import/export experience, and my current job is in a procurement department at a large company, in which I work with project managers directly. But without actual project management experience, how do I get a job in project management?

I eventually want to look for a new job soon. As much as I enjoy the people I work with and for, there is no where to go in this office and there are no raises, I'm sure you know what I mean. I work for a computer and electronics distributer. Well, here are my responsibilities, what is my title? Receiving, inspecting, allocating, expediting, record keeping and handeling shortages of the parts for the 2nd largest account we have. I help out in the shipping department with receiving of parts for other accounts. I handle the customs paperwork. I submit eletronic invoices to the government via their website. I follow up for invoices that have not been paid for by the government and work to resolve them. Paper shuiffler is only part of my job. I handle electronic equipment and have ben ESD (Electro Static Senstive) certified. Basically that is a course you take to learn about voltage and amps and how much you can have on your body before it can and will damage certain parts. You have to learn how to ground yourself and what clothes you can and can't wear.

I want to go to school to become a large animal veterinarian but incase it doesn't work out my mom wants me to have a back up plan. I want to stay in the agriculture field and still be able to work with animals but I don't know what other jobs are available. I want to work with the horses, cows, pigs, chicken, and all the farm animals if possible. If I cant make it into vet school, I may consider becoming an agriculture teacher but it doesn't pay well. If anyone knows of other job options please let me know! thanks!

Let's say an air force procurement officer in charge of awarding defense contracts had two relatives that needed jobs. This officer knows managers in Boeing, and says, "I'll look favorably on your company if you employ my two relatives". Is this illegal in any way or just unethical? The more detailed the better.

I have worked as a project coordinator and am currently unemployed. Would it behoove me to get a project management certification or do you pretty much still have to have the project management experience to get the job. I don't want to waste my money going back to school if it isn't going to benefit me. Thanks.

I have an Associates Degree in Business Management and I will finish my Bachelors in Business this coming May. I have had limited "real world" experience. I have been an assistant manager at a Pizza place, a Inventory Control Manager/Daily Supervisor/Merchandiser at a Chain Fabric Store (JoAnns), and Accounts Recieveable accountant, and currently I am a Freelance Childrens Clothing Designer (I do this out of my home). My skills include PC and Mac computers, Sewing, Pattern Drafting,Fabric knowledge, 10 Key, Opening/Closing of a retail business, ordering, inventory, supervising, scheduling, merchanding, directing, Daily/Weekly/Monthly accounting books...the list goes on. I guess my question comes down to, what should I do with my life......what does my education and skills together lead you to believe I should be?

I am a 48 year old Sr.Manager Procurement. I have worked monotonously as a traditional routine type manger all along. Being in a service dept, it was a thankless job which kept me always on the wrong side of the stick thus timid and apeasing. People disnt respect me in real sense though do appreciate my pleasentness as and when it suits them. Ina stroke of luck I have been offered a job of V.P-Procurement in an MNC. Though I feel I will be able to handle the job technically but I am not confident as to how will I handle new staff and even couple of director Procurement reporting to me. I am lacking confidence of how to make a perfect entry that will save me from the issues I had in my last job. Can someone guide me or suggest a good reading as to how to be a good V.P, who can get jobs done from others maintaining the respect and auhority smartly.
