I have an old house that I have to tear down to the floor. The land has been rezoned commercial. The land lot is 50 x 200. The house is 95 long x 35 wide x 25 high. {35 ft facing street} I plan to tear off the roof, tear down the walls, and keep the floor. Then I will build a concrete block shell around the floor. The resulting building will be a large empty space that I will use a television studio. My questions are the following. 1. How much to build the concrete shell? {starting from the dirt around the house?} 2. How much for a flat, single side tilt membrance roof? 3. What are the major insulation issues and solutions? 4. Would this be difficult to construct? 5. Is there a simpler, cheaper way to open up the internal space of the house AND achieve a commercial exterior. {the internal walls ARE load bearing} Please save your responses to helpful information. I detailed the location of the job because I am still looking for a contractor. The one builder that viewed the location suggested I proceed along the path that I am taking.

This is not my normal job and I'm struggling with a set of commercial concrete floor plans trying to get some info. to my estimator who's away on vacation. Question: Does anyone know what type of steel reinforcement is being required with the following?: WWF 6X6-W1.4xW1.4 I think its wire mesh?...but I'm not sure about the gauge? Secondly, regarding rebar placement what exactly does the symbol #4@18" E.W. mean? I know their talking about 1/2" rebar, but I'm use to seeing the symbol O.C. for "on center," and I'm not sure about the symbol E.W.? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I need to estimate the cost of an industrial building. The building is 15,070 ft^2. It has a concrete slab floor and 10?f the building is office space. It is built with "I" beam supports. The roof is about 150 feet high flat roof. The exterior is really thick serrated sheet metal. There are 4 roll up doors. and 4 normal sized doors. I am not a professional estimator. My boss just wants a budgetary estimate for planning. I have a book called RSmeans Cost Estimating, but I don't have the right one for this job. Does anyone have a cost estimate for this building. Any idea were I can find information to help.
