 | On certain websites I've found that Civil engineers are the basic engineers when it comes to building and construction project, be it buildings, bridges, highways, etc. and Structural engineers are more specialized towards structure design in specific projects such as buildings or bridges. What I need to know is what are the specific differences in jobs, responsibilities, salary, and and level of workmanship [that is to say how high up each on is ranked in the construction field. Thank you very much to those of you who take the time to answer this and a special thanks to those who answer it thoroughly and completely.

 | I have been offered a job in a construction industry as an electrical engineer. I am responsible for site visits and follow-up of construction projects for electrification works. This includes project planning in Primavera software. How demanding is this experience on international level? Should this be preferred to utility job in substation constrution or transmission lines?

 | I am a construction engineer and I recently accepted a position in an office environment from spending some time in the field. I thought this would be something that I like, but I am finding that I have been feeling like a trapped rat in a box. It seems like every day I come to work it gets worse and my boss is a pompus ass most of the time. Should I give it time for the adjustment or should I hit the ground running and never look back. Obviously financial aspects have been taken into consideration as well. I took a paycut when I accepted this position because there aren't very many field engineering positions where I live. The construction industry is slowing residentially and commercially in the South. Kind of a catch 22. I just don't like feeling that I have to keep a job I am not enjoying. Suggestions?

Also i was thinking of demolition and the explosive side of it so what would i have to do do manage a project like that? let me know what you know.

 | My husband was laid off 3 weeks ago, and he is sending resumes, but he always worked in construction project management, and he doesn't seem to find very good opportunities out there, but there are some others but no in what he has experience with. He is going to take the PE for Florida in april 2010.
If you can share your experience or give us a tip would be nice. I have a good job and don't want to relocate. We live in Tampa.

 | I want to go into civil engineering, but I'm not sure which discipline I would want to focus on. It's between either construction and structural for me, but I feel like they are very similar. Could someone tell me a couple pointers explaining the difference between the two?
Thanks a lot in advance!

 | What kind of an engineer would supervise and direct projects such as bridge building, road building, building towers, building windmillls in the sea, and by direct these, I mean that this engineer would be present at the site during the entire construction process and be outdoors the whole time with the construction workers. Would a mechanical, civil engineer do this type of work?

 | Is there an official title (for example, a Site Engineer or a Building Surveyor) for someone who builds or modifies houses to sell them on?
I'm trying to find out what type of builder does this job, so that I can look into what's involved and maybe do it as a career. It would mean buying a house (not a business or factory), repairing and upgrading it then selling it on. I would do it all myself and/or pay others to do the work with me.
Does the job role even exist? Thanks.
