My ideal job would be to become a computer games designer. I know it seems a bit of a pipe dream as its a very competitive industry and I don't have any experience whatsoever. I can do the artwork and layout etc and I have a very very basic grasp of programming (although I'd really just like to be involved in the design of the game). Any ideas on how to make it happen?

I am already out to family. However my mother seems to be determined to keep my sexuality awkward and prevent me from being comfortable with it.She always makes jokes like after I'm done with high school,I should just become a fashion designer, beautician or any other stereotypically gay job.No disrespect to people in those jobs(gay or not gay),but I get very p****d off it often sparks arguments after the other.I want to be either a Nurse, a Psychiatrist or a Pipe Designer for an engineering firm.Worst she often compares me with her friend's gay son who dropped out of high school in his senior year, ran off with some dude thrice his age and now lives in El Salvador.I am smarter than that. My education is very important to me.I also have standards when it comes to picking guys. She believes the stereotypes of gays that although I am not like that, she believes in the near future I will start cross dressing. She tells me my looks are wasted because it's not intended to please women and same sex relationships are not real relationships. I watch LGBT movies on NetFlix and she saw it and said "Stop watching these gay movies, you're really starting to embrace and be comfortable with being gay. That's very embarrassing"I replied "It's just a love story, just like any love story but with gay characters".She then tells me it's "disgusting".She claims to "not care anymore"if I'm gay but I can tell she hates it.I cannot even talk about my issues to my parents because they make me feel awkward. They encourage my brother to get a girlfriend and bring her home to meet her but she discourages me from bringing a boy into the house. They immigrated from a different part of the world, they can't seem to move past the stereotypes back home. She even tried to set me up with their friend's daughters. My dad is more accepting of me,but my mom....

I have a job as a text book buyer and I am frustrated with the lack of creativity and options in the job. I make my own beaded jewelry as a hobby. People seem to love my designs. Have you ever heard of anyone making a living as a jewelry designer outside of NY and LA?

On the ground floor, we have our kitchen and washer dryer near where we would put a half-bath. We've used Google to look for instructions, but haven't found much. The floor is cement (in the laundry room), tile in the kitchen, and hardwood in the dining room. (We are thinking a nook in between the laundry, dining room, and kitchen is the best place.) Please explain the basic steps for us to get started (do we need a designer?) and some basic info about what we'll need to do (pipes, licenses, tearing up the floor, what to avoid, etc.) I'm not concerned about *choosing* fixtures; we're just trying to figure out plumbing, hook-ups, & requirements. We're brave do-it-yourselfers! If you have good books or good websites to recommend, please do. (Please be very specific!) We would like to do all the labor ourselves, but will consult a contractor or designer for planning if needed. Also: what's the minimum square footage required for a 1/2 bath? Thanks, everyone! We don't have blueprints for our house, incidentally; it is 200 years old! Currently, we have a full bath on our 2nd floor, which is the floor above the ground floor. We could also consider a half bath on our third floor, just above the current full-bath. Would that actually be easier ?

I owned my own business for 2 years where I hand designed landscapes. Installed hardscapes, plants and irrigation pipes. Also, I hired the workers, ordered plants, soil, brick, granite dust, stone wear and paid the workers. I have been through a life changing event which took me out of this scene for a while, but want to go back into this working with a landscape architect. I am also an artist. I have a certificate in Landscape Design and Commercial Design which was part of my degree.

Hi there i was just wondering if there was anyone out there that could help me with some questions. I live in the UK (London), I am 23, really passionate about gaming and been playing games since i was about 12 starting with resident evil (secret love, well up until nemesis anyway lol). I left school in 2005 and went into the building trade (not really what i wanted to do), a year later went to college done a 2 year carpentry course and got the highest pass grade. I now have a carpentry business that i have been running for a year and half and doing really well but..... How much I love carpentry and the building trade, gaming is my passion and I am now looking to pursue it as a career!... I am looking to become a games tester to start then maybe a designer after some experience?.... What would be the best route to take on education or a starting point? Every online site i see for training I am not sure about and are they worth doing? All the jobs i seem to find are all in America (kinda to far to go) or to high of a position for me at my current level? Any help would be appreciated Thanks Gutridge

If Yes, then how do they manage frequent nut tightening requirement if any, and the increased pipe spacing requirement due to this padded flange od ? What are Flange Insulation Boxes ? Why are they required over and above the flange insulation ? Do such boxes in the pipe rack increase the Pipe Spacing requirement ?

I don't know what to do? The economy is bad, even when the economy was good, it's extremely hard to get a career in the fashion industry, but it's the only thing that makes me happy. Should I just suck it up and choose a stable career path that would guranteed me a job instead?

OK, here's the situation. I just turned 38 and I have not really made much of myself professionally. I have a degree in art, but have never worked as an illustrator or graphic designer, which is what I want to do. Instead, I've been stuck in dead-end retail or customer service jobs (including a 12 year long stint as the night clerk at a truck stop motel) and I feel like I can't make that leap or shift in reality to get me to a job where I at least don't dread going to work each morning. I am happily married and have 2 children and I can't afford to work entry level jobs that pay peanuts - I have a family to support. I'm feeling kind of desperate and that there might not be any hope. Can I find that job that allows me to use the skills I have and enjoy it, or is it just a pipe dream?

I'm trying to come up with a thesis statement for a term paper. I have lots of research materials but haven't quite done all the reading yet. Mostly, I want some ideas on what I should be looking for or focusing on. So how would the USA's relationship with China differ if we abandoned Taiwan? How would Taiwan's relationship with the USA change? What should be done to resolve the Taiwan issue? Is there some connection that can be made between Taiwan and Tibet? Any other ideas, please feel free to post them here. Thanks!

I hear alot of people talk about for profit schools. What is so bad about them. Their is alot of information so if anyone can condense the reason that would be great. I'll read whatever you can fit into your response. For profit schools are the ones you see alot of commercials for, like ITT Tech, Everest, The Art Institute, etc...
