I often see engineering jobs listed as "Engineer I" or "Engineer II" in both job websites and salary websites. What do they mean, exactly? I know they relate to experience or pay, but are there any set definitions since many independent companies/sites use the designations?

Is there an official title (for example, a Site Engineer or a Building Surveyor) for someone who builds or modifies houses to sell them on? I'm trying to find out what type of builder does this job, so that I can look into what's involved and maybe do it as a career. It would mean buying a house (not a business or factory), repairing and upgrading it then selling it on. I would do it all myself and/or pay others to do the work with me. Does the job role even exist? Thanks.

I am currently employed as a structural automotive engineer at one of the big 3 carmakers. I've specialized in exterior sheet metal deformation along with evaluating the structural integrity of the underlying metal skeleton. I have also been heavily involved with exterior plastic components such as fascia, bumpers and body side moldings. Outside of crash testing, what other types of engineering jobs exist in the car insurance industry? Could it be used to determine whether a damaged vehicle is salvageable?

I currently live in Texas and will graduate in May from Texas A&M with a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (like Electrical Engineering but more application oriented rather than theory). My wife and I would like to move to NYC. I'm starting to look for a job. What is the best way to find and get an electrical engineering job? Interviewing would be a different process without face to face communication. I'd be looking at $50K-$70K starting salary.

I am enrolled on a setting out engineer course in Swindon by ENKA but all the jobs for site engineers advertised require engineers to have a HND/HNC or so on! I am intelligent for a bricklayer with an I.Q of 137, but can not afford or do 3 years at some college or uni

I graduated with a bachelor's degree 5 years ago and haven't worked in the field yet. I've been working as a music teacher and in my own recording studio. All the electrical engineering job positions ask for 2-5 years experience in specific areas and with specialized skills. I've searched Monster and some of the other popular web sites for listings but so far I haven't had any luck. Thanks for your help, John
