Hi, I am really interested in animation, and I was doing my bit of research and I wanted to clear up some things, like this little question over here, does a 3D modeller do the animation of the model or is there a different 3D Animator to do the work, just wanted to clear that out, thank you.

I am interested in changing my career path to become a 3d animator for a video game company. How much do 3d animators make for, let's say, video game companies such as Sega, Sony, EA Sports, Rockstar Games, etc.? What is the salary rate for a 3D animator with over 10-15 years of experience? A ballpark figure is what I'd like to know?

I will be on college in the next two years and I am wondering what would be a good course for me. Personally, I love 3D animating. It is my hobby and I think I would like to study BS Multimedia Arts. However, I saw a Yahoo Answers Question about 3D Animating and someone said that the average salary of a 3D Animator is low unless you are hired by the big companies such as Pixar, Disney, etc. Plus, the matriculation fee for that course is really a wallet slasher. Many of you might answer: "You love 3D animating. Why choose other courses if you are good at that. Don't think of the salary, just think about how you will enjoy your future work." Many people already said that. Well, my future salary is a big deal because my parents will be growing old soon that they can not work for a living anymore and I should be able to find a good job if I want to stay alive. If 3D animating is not really the best option for me, then I can choose others like Urban Planner, or the people that design electronics and gadgets (I don't know the name of the job). I don't know what courses to take to achieve these jobs so I'm guessing it's for you to tell me. :) Another thing, I live in the Philippines and where can I find a college that can provide quality education. I am thinking of Mapua Institute or iAcademy. Haha, I forgot. A 2-year ladder-type course is very aapreciated. If a 2-year course is impossible, then 3 will do good. If all of these are not possible (sigh), then stick with the 4-year course...

Before I begin looking for colleges to attend for this type of thing, I was hoping I could find a class at my community college that would really help me out for when I do decide to find a more fitting college. My problem? I want to be a 3d modeler or animator. My community college doesn't offer anything like that. It doesn't even have any sort of art class. Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated!
