I'm currently working as an AutoCad Draftsman in United Arab Emirates. The company i'm working for is not concerned about health and safety of it's employees. I have tried to apply thru websites but unfortunately I haven't got a positive response from any employer. I have a diploma in Computer Programming but my experience is more on Autocad drafting (8 years as an Autocad Designer/Draftsman on 3 various companies - Pulp and Paper Consultant, Oil and Gas Service Company and MEP building services).

I am currently at a 2-year school. I plan to transfer into a 5-year bachelor's program in architecture, then eventually pursue my master's degree in the profession. What are some other careers or jobs I can take on while I am in school that are related to the profession? What are some careers I can take on along my career path into architecture? I already know getting a good construction job and working at "The Home Depot" are excellent experiences for me. Thanks

I have used design programs before like AutoCAD and I like it. I'm no where near even being able to use it proficiently, but I think it is great! I'm still only in high school but I'm taking AutoCAD next year in it. I was just asking this question to see what kinds of good paying careers I can get with the skill of being able to use AutoCAD

I've been trying to apply for Cad positions and everyone of them require that you are proficient in cad. I've been holding myself back because I don't know if I am confident enough to call myself a pro. I've been using cad through out my 4 years of college. I can draw a full floor plan with dimensioning and such. detail section drawing and elevations. Is it enough to consider myself proficient and apply for the job? if not does anyone know what a CAD Pro should know?

Hi, I am looking into becoming a CAD draughtsman but due to lack of apprenticeships available at the moment I have decided to learn Autocad while waiting for an opportunity. Can anyone suggest a good book or website with on-line tutorials for learning Autocad, it will be for engineering purposes. Also any other software packages that are used in this profession that I can learn as well let me know of them. Thanks

I have taken Drafting 1 in school and I am in Drafting 2 now. How familiar should I be with AutoCad? Like every shortcut and command? Do I have to be amazing at math and hand drawing? Also do I necessarily HAVE to go to college to get a job in it. Because my teacher said when he got his first job he hadn't went. Any help would be appreciated. Please no sarcastic answers.
