It seems like everyone I know has no problem finding a 12 dollar an hour job through craigslist and temp agencies. What do you all think? What are your experiences? What do you think will happen? I work in the engineering field as a cad designer. Are these jobs really non existent?

I have been searching endlessly and emailing resumes/ filling apps online and I can't find a way to get into this field. Everything I find requires minimum 2 years experience... I've tried temp services, monster, craigslist... Any CAD Designers have any suggestions or advice on how to get my foot in the door?! (i am college certified as designer/operator by the way)

What types of software and/or programming skills are in high demand now or for the future? What jobs are these skills utilized in? For example, I see a ton of ads for CAD designers in my area or even a knowledge of Microsoft Word or Excel for office work. What software/programming knowledge is good to delve into?

I have been a tooling designer for the last 30 years and have used Unigraphics software since 1995. Before 2009,I have had no problem getting a job without a degree. Now, I can't land one without a degree. Who changed the rules?

I love tinkering and designing things and i like designing guns. If i wanted to work with a company that did so what kind of degree would be best or where would i go. Would having a mechanical engineering degree with a minor in art help me get there because of function and design? How do you pursue a job like this or go to college for it?

I'm going to be a senior in high school this year. I've had cad classes since sophomore year, and am Nocti Certified in the use of the autocad program. ( Job ready ) And am wondering how hard///easy it is to find work as an architect, autocad drafter, or something along those lines.
