Aside from the job of Graphic Designer and Web Designer... What kind of job can utilize graphic design and web design skills? Yellow- So you are of the impression that only people who are JUST graphic designers do graphic designs? There are no other fields where that skill comes in handy?

I am a self taught graphic & web designer. I have a job doing just that. I am also in the process of creating my own website to sell my designs on. Eventually I would like to own my own store front selling my products and have a printing company in back. I would like to take some business classes to learn more about running a business. Does anyone have any other class suggestions? I am not looking for a degree...I am just looking to gain knowledge.

I know that I have to make portfolio to show what I can do. Where do I start finding people to land a job? What program do you suggest? Should I get the entire set of cs4 and css? How does the whole web designer job work? Do I just sell the layouts to people and companies that's it or do they also keep me to update whenever they need something to type in?

I am a Graphic/Web Designer and once I finally get done with one project I'm already behind on another. It's my whole life. Any other designers out their that just want to say f**k it and go into the service or be a truck driver...I'd make more money that way too probably. I don't have time to do my laundry, clean my apt. and so on.

I am a seasoned graphic designer but have been in a sort of "time capsule." Since I have been doing the same design work for a corporation, I haven't had to learn anything new for the past 5 years. However I am looking to find a new job but I want to keep up on my skill sets. So what programs, apps, coding language would be necessary? I would like to consider that I am both, a print and web designer.

I'm an Illustrator/Graphic Designer/Web Designer/Photographer. I have a contract job that stops in a few months and I'm dreading going out there and finding a job in my field because it's quite difficult these days. I'd like to step up my portfolio presentation a bit with a tablet. Not an expensive one like an iPad but one with a nice screen and allow me to do slideshows. (Powerpoint, Lightroom, or even Flash but I know that's probably not possible). The main question is, I have a traditional hard cover portfolio(s), do you think someone who wants to look at my portfolio will prefer "the old school" way of doing things? Or perhaps they'd be more impressed? I'd love some real professional opinions whether they are artists, hiring managers, and just other points of view. Also, what would be a good choice of tablet that would suit my needs that won't cost an arm and a leg?

I'm in California, and would like to stay here. I've looked into Graphic Design as a major [but I am a terrible drawer; I just don't know what else would work when you want to be a web designer]. I also considered the local community college's Comp. Science course, because it has an emphasis on wed development. I'm open to suggestions, advice, help, ANYTHING. Thank you (:
