 | I have two job offers and I need some advice!
Job 1. Field sales engineer
Go round the country selling engineering products, very sales based
Job 2. Deputy branch manager of a grocery retailer
Basically what it says in the title!
I'm unsure as they are so different, the main thing I'm looking for is job security, money and progression.....
Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

 | I am a Bank Branch Manager I moved banks (Same job), is it appropriate to contact my old clients and let them know of my move? I have been with the old institution for over 8 years and have a HUGE client base, many on a friend level. Is it appropriate for me to send them a letter of my new position? I don't believe I have a "non-compete clause" and I don't have a list of my clients just know who they are and how to reach them. What are your thoughts?

 | My boyfriend just got a job offer from Fifth Third Bank to be an Assistant Branch Manager. However, his credit is pretty bad. He can't even get an apartment. So, my question is, will they withdraw the offer after they check his credit. Or have they already done so prior to making the offer? Just don't want to get my hopes up for a better job for him and he won't even be able to take it.

Second interview went really well and was over an hour. What can I expect on this third one ? Thank you for your answers.

 | I'm interested in getting a part time (second shift) position at fedex kinkos as a second job. I have a resume that pretty much makes me a great candidate to work there, so I'm pretty confident that if a position is open I would get the job. The problem is applying through that website of theirs. Would it be okay to call kinko's directly, maybe ask for the branch manager and ask to send him my resume directly?

I have managed to sort out all the problems and set proper systems in place to make sure the workflow and standard stays constant. Problem is now that the store is running so smooth day in day out it is so boring! What can i do?

 | Ok, so say you sign up for a job at the bank and you take the interview, then the branch manager accepts you. But it's not official until the human resources accept you right? So, how long does it usually take to hear from the human resources?

 | I am going to university next year and I have no idea what to study. (Currently I am studying business at college). I am a good student and I am sure that with my grades I am able to enter any course I like but I do not know what to choose.
I am thinking between the two options mentioned in the title, Accounting or Banking.
The thing is that I have seen how many problems most of my family have since they hardly have any education and aren't getting paid well, I would like to do as best as I can at school and get the best possible job to live a good life and help out my family.
After a small research I've found pros and cons of both these professions and they are:
Accounting:
+Many vacancies = easy to find a job (if you have a qualification of course)
+ Decent wages which are from 20k to 50k
- I've read that you cannot advance in your career when being an accountant as you will always be an accountant whereas in banking (one of my mums friends) has gone from being a bank teller (I think that's what it's called. Basically she was at the counter updating peoples details and working with withdrawals and deposits) and moved onto being the branches manager and then after some time she became the manager of 4 branches of the bank earning £80k per year if I'm not mistaken.
- I heard the job is REALLY boring but I do like maths so I don't think it would be too big of a problem
Banking:
+ I've heard they get paid well (£70k+)
+ You can advance from cashier to branch manager to multiple branch manager etc. (I don't know what's next)
- I do not know what qualifications are needed. What should I study to become a good banker and have a chance to become a manager?
- I don't know if there are vacancies as a banker - Are there ?
- I have read here on yahoo answers that bank managers don't get paid as much as I thought. People are saying that they get paid £35k.
So anyway, I wanted to ask you guys what should I choose. I want to be able to earn close to £100k a year some day in the future as I know that I am able to get the required qualifications as I like studying and I am really intelligent.
I want to know what I would need to study at university to have a chance of becoming a bank manager some day.
I want to know how much I can earn both in accounting and banking.
Which is a better job to choose in terms of earnings ?
Are there vacancies in banking ?
What other jobs that involve a lot of paperwork, financial work etc. could I go into in order to earn £100k a year.
It might sound as if I think earning 100 grand a year is as easy as learning how do ride a bicycle but if the saying "knowledge is power" is really true then I think i am 100?apable of achieving my goal.
THIS IS A UK QUESTION AND I WOULD ONLY LIKE PEOPLE FROM THE UK TO ANSWER IT AS ANSWERS FROM USA ETC. WILL BE PRETTY MUCH USELESS.
THANK YOU !!!

 | I recently relocated to a different city, a more expensive city compared to the one I used to live in. Once I arrived here, I decided to apply for jobs within the industry I have experience in so that I was able to get some type of offer in this economy. That meant applying to positions that I was well over-qualified in. I had to bring in some type of income and FAST. I was able to get a position at a local credit union. Perfect. I have tons of experience in credit unions and I loved working at my last one. UNFORTUNATELY, I have gone from being Assistant Branch Manager ALL the way down to Member Service Representative which is basically a Teller/Personal Banker.
I'm having a hard time getting used to it. Getting used to the new company is hard. Getting used to a handful of management is hard (Rather than just one manager.) I'm sure once I receive my first paycheck and notice the pay cut, that will hit really hard too. Tomorrow is barely my 4th day on the job but I'm kind of dreading it. Can anybody offer any advice? Note: The relocation was absolutely necessary and un-avoidable.

 | As a Realtor it is hard to even trust that a deal will close now-a-days with the lenders going out of business and leaving buyers stuck out at closing. This has been a terrible experience for me.
Here in Houston mortgage brokers and loan officers are hurting and some are even given up. As a Realtor I have other options but rearranging my structure and client base will take me a minute to start building back up.
It would be interesting to know how others in the real estate industry are doing these days.
As the mortgage shakeout forces dozens of home lenders into bankruptcy, some are merely going into something like suspended animation -- shutting down temporarily and hoping to escape intact once the crisis has run its course.

The total volume of subprime loans nationally fell less than 4 percent in 2006, even as defaults and foreclosures were starting to spike, according to data compiled by Credit Suisse. Some big lenders never really did apply the brakes: New Century's loan volume was down a mere 1.3 percent through the end of February, or about two weeks before trading in the company's stock was suspended.
