Today I had to speak with a "technician" at the Social Security Administration, and she was shockingly rude from the start. She didn't give me the chance to ask the question I had called to ask, and just barked out the information I already knew. I just can't imagine how these people keep their jobs. What is the worst experience you've had with customer service?

I am an aircraft mechanic but my company may be having some layoffs. I saw a job posting for a Copier Service Technician. With some specialized training, I am sure I could do this kind of job. I am trustworthy, can think on my feet, troubleshoot well and handle customers. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the salary in this field. Thanks, Jimmy

I have a job interview next week for a pharmacy technician position. I am really nervous because I don't have any prior on job training in this field. (I have only worked in the customer service and administration field before) I have no idea what to expect in this interview. What type of questions will I be asked? And how will they view the fact that I have no experience in this field?

Most of people I encountered in IT field don't seem to want to take a job as a field service technician. If you are in the field or have ever worked as an IT field service technician, what is your opinion and experience? I think, the bad side is that the customers can tend to be more demanind and can be irate more easy because they're paying hundreds of dollars to have you come over and work on their computers. The good side may be that it may be more difficult for your boss to get a biased opinion about your personality and your performance because a lot of times you are outside of your vicinity. Also, it may be more difficult for your repuation with the customers to be formed because you are floating. I think it may be better than doing IT customer service in a fixed location such as at one company or at one building. What do you all think?

I was seeing the ads in the paper where there were call centers hiring customer service representatives and the starting wages were similar to those of a pharmacy technician pluas they offered raises and bonuses. No certification is required to work as on operator, well actually some places I know will hire uncertified pharmacy techs as well, so which would be a better job?

For the past six months so many jobs moved to overseas and foreign labour are imported to Australia and it happen for most of the lower income level jobs (Tech support, call centre, Construction, Customer service) , plus this workplace agreement that give the employer more power to mess up with your payment. I have 3 mates that currently working as technician and IT support they all lost their job because of this factors i mentioned above. As we all know most people are working in the lower income level (30k - 45k) and only small percentage are in the higher level of income. Let me know what you think

I was out having a drink the other night and a guy sitting next to me who was the service manager for a local Honda dealership was talking to a co-worker. He said that when folks bring in their autos for the scheduled service work intervals done at 30 K miles and 60K ($600-$1330 respectively for accords) that the service technicians don't even do 1/3 of the work on the check list. Thinks like lubing CVC joints, flushing transmission etc, usually get signed off, but never done. He chuckled and said there is no way for the customer to know or even prove it. He said they usuallu do the obvious like hook it up to the "scope" and change the oil and filters, top off fluids, but that is about it. If it is not broke, they just sign off on the other stuff and you get screwed! Since they are not actually repairing anything, how do we know? my honda is due for the $1330, any way to avoid getting screwed?

I want to spend a few months in New York studying for my Emergency Medical Technicians qualification. I would however need a job to support me. How easy is it for an international student from the UK to find work in New York? I don't require much money, just enough to take care of my basic living needs. I'm probably thinking about working as a low level postion at hospital, perhaps in basic nursing or maybe in customer service, retail or at a restaurant as a waitor. In fact, I'm open to ideas.
