I have just got a new job as a support worker (not carer) with mentally ill users of the service. However, I would like to become a social worker but cannot afford to do the degree as I already have a degree in theology. Would starting as a support worker give me some experience to internally train within my council as a social worker?

Who do I contact knowing that my support worker confessed to talking drugs before joining the Mental Health Team and is he really still be allowed to work there? He now is no longer a Support Worker under the Mental Health team but has a higher job still under the Mental Health. He said he had to when searched by the police, eat all what he had on him (Cannabis) and thought people were jumping out of bushes at him on the way to the police station. He also confessed to taking opium. What should I do? I just want to do the right thing. Is a drug user still be allowed to be working in Mental Health, or is that not allowed?

Which companies that offer care and support for the elderly in their own homes, will give good training to do the job. I want to be a carer/support worker and receive good training to do the job. I want to shadow an experienced carer for 2 weeks or more before going out alone. Is that too much to ask.

I have recently been to a job interview which lasted most of the day. It's a support worker job for challenging learning difficulties. I have just received a letter which says I have conditionally got the job subject to references and health form. I have suffered from depressiona and anxiety on and off over the years and have been taking anti-depresants, despite this I was awardered employee of the year not only at the hotel that i worked at but also in the whole group. My point is that when I'm at work I function very well. It's my personal life which has been a but of a struggle. I need your advise. Should I be honest and make it clear that I have been depressed and am still taking anti-depressants or should I lie as I know I am well enough to do the job?? The application form does ask if I have suffered from depression or anxiety and am I on medication but doesn't ask for Dr's details. However, I think I may have given them those details already. I really want this job!! Thank you.

Thanks I'm not looking right now. I want to do so sometime after summer 2010. I understand jobs are in short supply at the moment but I still want a source to search.
