I am very interested in writing. A lot of the things I write are said to be inspiring. I love to write anything like poems, songs, stories, my personal views, etc. The only problem is that I CANNOT be stuck writing something im told to write about like most writers jobs are. Is there such thing as a freelance writer, or creative writer, and how do I become one? How do I gain income with it?

I'm thinking of leaving my job at napa (I think I've gone as far as I can go there) and taking a job as a service writer at a very buisy local dealer. Long days, but vacation and benifits I don't have. I graduate college in december, and my dad says I'm overqualified for the service writer job. I'm overqualified for my job now, but at least it's close to home and flexible with my hours. If anyone is a service writer, how do you like it?

Is becoming a freelance writer a fine job to try to get into these days? My sister wants to become a freelance writer and my dad says that is a good idea for her but he is 68 years old so he may not know how the conditions of the usa are now? She doesn't care if she makes that much money.

I am working on writing a new book from an old story, my problem is I never had a real conflict in that story. I understand that it is a writers job to come up with the plot but I though I might ask my audience. My character's brother is kidnapped, 7 years later the main character is kidnapped. She has no reason to escape because her family hates her, and if she wanted to leave she could. My original plan was to have her on the search for her brother but that is not a large enough conflict. I was now considering having her against a corrupted government but that would be difficult being that she has been kidnapped. What are your ideas? What would be interesting to you?

My company is buying this other company and we are offering jobs to some of the existing employees there. I need to write a job offering and rejecting letters that are corporation style with no emotion at all. So words like exciting, glad, pleased, etc cannot be used. I've searched for some samples online, but they are for jobs applied by the candidates. How do I write a heartless and professional offering and rejecting letter?
