Education Teaching Job Questions & Answers

I just graduated college in Decemeber with a BA in English Adolescence Education. Teaching jobs are scarce, and I am looking around at other jobs. I'd like to be an administrative assistant or an editorial assistant, but have not yet been hired for any of these positions. I am looking at a job as a secretary/typist making $24k a year... I am feeling like a loser. How much did you make right after graduating college? What was your major? And how has your salary/career changed since then?

I graduated as PE/Health Teacher last year. Like previous posts I am extremely disappointed for the fact that I can not land a teaching job. That aside I am thinking strongly of pursuing a masters in special education to hopefully land me a job. If I go after this will it be easier for me to get hired?

I hear that it is tough to get a teaching job, but then why do we have Teach For America, where non-education majors can be placed in a teaching job immediately after college?

I'm a graduate student who is majoring in education and looking to find a teaching job despite not having any teaching experience or any experience in dealing with kids other than the the courses I've taken. I'm currently trying by sending my resume to principals but I haven't heard back yet. I was wondering there was a teacher or somebody who can answer this for me: How did you your find your first teaching jobs? What did you do?

I have a few years of full-time teaching experience and a couple years of subbing experience. My wife is a certified and experienced Education Assistant. We would like to move to Whitehorse especially, but coming from Southern Ontario, we know it would be a risky and expensive move. Does any one know what the teaching job market is like there? Thanks in advance!

I'm currently a senior in high school. I live in Pennsylvania. I am currently planning to attend Point Park University in Pittsburgh this coming fall for journalism. However, I really want to move to Colorado and I want to either be a teacher or journalist. I am looking to possibly transfer to the University of Denver my sophomore year and maybe even double major in journalism and history education. How are teaching and journalism jobs in Colorado. If I am a teacher I would want to be a high school history teacher.

I have heard that many overseas teaching jobs will pay off your student loans. Is this a true statement? I would like to take advantage of this opportunity and teach overseas but I do not know where to begin looking. I have done some web searches and it is hard to tell if the websites I am finding are legitmate. Names of websites or agencies that helped you get a teaching job overseas would be helpful. Also, a review of your experiences teaching overseas would also be helpful. I do have a valid teaching certificate.

My friend just graduated with a masters degree in elementary education and he's looking for a teaching job. He's only licensed in the state of MA for right now. But I was wondering if anyone has any kind of advice for someone just starting out in the teaching world? He's sent tons of letters and resumes and applications out and has only heard back from one school district. Any advice or any leads I could pass on to him would be greatly appreciated.

My friend who is majoring in education said you will get a job right off the bat after you graduate. I really just want to do it for the sake of getting a descent job. Think of it this way holidays off, summers off, work til 2 everyday.

I still don't know what field I want to go in to college, but I do know I want to go to college. I'm very much leaning into the education side and being a teacher. I live in Florida and I am very aware that it mainly depends on the location. I just want to know in general how hard it overall is to get a teaching job.

All educators are in high demand, but from what I have heard special education teaching jobs are easy to come by because many school districts has a difficult time hiring certified teachers in that field. For example: I looked on the "madison metropolitan school district's" website and all I saw was special education teaching positions as job openings. Another big example is that the university I applied to last year had a special education degree program. It had a 100?mployment rate for it's previous graduate within three months of obtaining the degree for 15 years in a row compared to all the other degree program, as the elementary education program had a 95?mployment rate. Why do you think special education is in high demand? I am currently a freshman at a university in this field and has gained a lot of knowledge in this field so far due to my learning disabilities. If my grammar is horrible, please excuse it. I have learning disabilities as well. I am trying my hardest to increase my efforts when it comes to grammatical mistakes.
