My friend and me talked about coaching and/or being a manager of a little league baseball team the interviews will be coming up soon. Originally I was going to just be the pitching coach, however I feel maybe I should be the head coach/manager. I played pitcher for 3 years. My friend was a outfielder. He played for 6 years. However I have coaching experiences as I was an asst coach for a JV lacrosse team this past spring. Should I go for his asst or try for the head coaching job?

All those vacant head coaching jobs this season, and Lovie Smith was not picked up, you gotta be kidding me! Especially when Lovie has a proven track record as a winner!

For example Kliff Kingsbury, the offensive coordinator with A & M taking the Texas Tech Job, or Dave Doeren of NIU leaving to take the head coaching job at North Carolina State. I was just wondering, because neither one of these 2 guys are coaching during the bowl game for their former teams.

Black players make up the majority of athletes in the NFL and yet so few hold head coaching jobs. Is it racism? I hate to play the race card but there are less than 5 in college football [119 teams] and about 5 in the NFL. Why do good black football coaches seem to get the short straw everytime?

New Jersey recently reached out to Avery Johnson about the Nets head coaching job, but he did not express any real interest. I think the Nets should try to get Jeff Van Gundy. He makes too much sense. He has experience coaching in NY and knows what it takes to be successful. Forget about coach K he stated he didn't want to come here and he is an overrated coach. Your a smart man Favre. You d**n right Lebron is going to the Nets.

Whisenhunt(not sure if spelled correctly) or Tomlin? The former was turned down for the head coaching job of Pittsburgh. He was supposedly the fore runner for the job, until the last minute. Do you think he's secretly hoping the Steelers win, (especially IF they win) so he personally can deny them of their 6th Superbowl title, or does he hope they won't even make it to the Superbowl?

I always thought he was a great defensive mind with New England, so it made sense to see what he could do as a head coach in the NFL. He couldn't turn Cleveland into a winner and was fired. Then he managed to become a head coach again in Kansas City after starting as the defensive coordinator. He failed again. After two bad tenures, I doubt Crennel will get another chance to be a head coach in the NFL. At 65, he's definitely not up and coming either. But is it his fault? He coached two of the most disastrous franchises in this era. Let's be honest, there was little hope with either team. The Browns have been bad ever since Crennel was fired. It remains to be seen whether long-time Eagles coach Andy Reid will improve Kansas City. I always thought Crennel had a good defensive mind, but maybe he benefited a lot from coaching in New England. Maybe he's a good coordinator but isn't cut out for a head coaching job. Or maybe he just had the luck of landing in two of the worst possible cities for an NFL head coach.

My friend and I are wanting to attend college together and become basketball coaches. He doesn't want a head coaching job, so he just wants to be my Assistant Coach. What degree should he pursue to do that, and what degree should I pursue to become a head coach? Also, what are some of the best colleges to go to for them?

What is the point of having a offensive, defensive, etc coordinator? Isn't the head coaches job to call these plays. And if not, what is the point of a head coach?

I love Coach Singletary as the head coach of the Niners. The players want to play for him and he gets maximum effort out of them. If the Yorks are smart, they'd better keep him.

This is my first head coaching job. I played baseball up through college so all I can remember is team rules for my college baseball team. Now I am going to start coaching a middle school softball team and I can't think of any team rules that would apply to them. Stuff like miss a practice and you miss the next game kind of thing. Thanks.

Rick Dennison has been with the Denver Broncos for around 25 years total, which includes coaching and playing. He's been apart of several Superbowl's, and was the special teams coach during their two victories in 97 and 98. with that being said, do you think that he should have gotten the head coaching job at the Denver Broncos after mike Shanahan got fired after last season? Do you think he is just getting shoved under the carpet, keeping him there as the offensive line coach?
