I will be graduating this year from Northwestern University with an MA in Literature. I'm hoping that I'll be able to land a job that pays well, but don't know where to look. I'd like to write, but not necessarily a novel or anything. Just looking for something interesting that pays well, has good benefits. I'd also like to teach. I just need some ideas, preferably if you have an MA in Lit and can tell me what your job is like.

Currently my title is "Assistant for Online Learning" However, I coordinate the entire online program for a college, do faculty training, development, online student support, online research - I am the online learning department. My role is that of an online instructional designer/technologist. My boss - Distance Learning Coordinator - only does the budget. I feel that my title is degrading - implying I am someone's assistant - when what I do is more of a director or coordinator role. I've only been with the college for one year. What do you think? Should I say anything? Would you find the title demeaning? What would you change it to?

Employers these days want "quick learners". But what's a realistic expectation, when teaching someone? How long does it take the brain to learn, and through how many repetitions and how often should those repetitions be? What's the maximum amount of time that should be allowed between repetitions, before forgeting occurs? Are employers expecting more than they should be, when breaking someone in, or teaching them a new task?
