 | I'm heading into my first year of university and hear that a library assistant is one of the best jobs a person in my position can have.

 | I am considering to start a career as a Library Assistant in the UK. However, I am quite confused on where I should start from. Is there any required qualification? I am not a graduate, and I was wondering if I could get qualified by attending a college part time course. I have seen that there are NVQ qualifications in Information and Library Services, but they are for those already working in a library. Is there any alternative to a BA in librarianship to find a library job?

 | I've been applying for library jobs for a long time now with no success I was told that there really hard to get because there government jobs and they want someone with prior experience and all.So I was thinking of doing unpaid work experience at the university library and just want to no what would be my chances of the university offering me a job after wards.

 | I live in Pennsylvania. What sort of education/degree would I need to become a library assistant? Do I need to take any special tests? Would I be more likely to be hired if I first spent some time volunteering? Anything else you could tell me would be much appreciated.

 | I work in a library but I'm not behind the desk. Yet. My aim is to be an assistant. But, I haven't really grown up hanging out with young children.
How do you talk to them? Like I smile at them, say excuse me or sorry, and occasionally I will help them find things. How do you talk to children without sounding patronising?
Do children even care what words you use? Or is it more about tone of voice?
Any tips would be appreciated. I want to build up my confidence talking to children before I go for a library assistant job where I would have to talk to them more.

 | I would like to work for a school district. I am interested in an administrative job, like library assistant, for I have experience working in a library. I would not mind work in an office as a clerk. I have a business degree, four years of library experience (a part time job I worked during college), and basic computer skills I learned in college. What other skills will I need to work an administrative job for a school district?

 | I applied last week for a library technical assistant job for the state government that has a closing date of February 27, 11:59pm. Do you think it would be wise to call & check the status of my application? It's an entry level job but I don't want to appear like a pest. I really need this job.

 | What is the job description of a library assistant and are they usually college educated

 | I was wondering what other jobs I could apply skills acquired through library work (at a library assistant level). I have been doing this work for a number of years now (including front line customer service). I know that the skills would be transferable to records management roles, and filing clerk roles. Anything else?
Also, I don't have library qualifications per se.

 | I have a job interview this afternoon for a position as a library assistant. I really want the job, and would like some tips or typical interview questions they may ask me, or even messages of good luck to stop me being so nervous!! xx

 | What should I put in my resume for an on-campus job (office assistant, library jobs, bookstore, etc.)? Usually they never ask this until this year. I already put my objective, my education, my desktop skills, my projects, and other similar job experiences, but the resume still only 3/4 page.
Any suggestions to make my resume full and outshine others? :)

 | Other than the usual research the position and the history of the college and anticipate questions, are there any job-specific things I should know before the interview? Anything that will make me stick out from the rest of the candidates? Any specific qualities or personality traits that librarians are looking for in their assistants? Do you have any experience in this occupation? and if so I'd love a few pointers! thanks so much!

 | Ok, I have applied to about 12 places with no call-backs, i have no real experience except for dog walking, library assistant, and teacher's assistant (this is what I put on my resume) but I can't seem to find work anywhere! i don't know if they are not hiring at the moment or what?
Is there any way I can get a job through my career center at college?
I am not sure what to do because I really need to start making money for things I need instead of just going to my parents everytime I need money..
Any tips on what I can do?

 | I have a casual library assistant interview. What should I expect? Is there any dress code? Can you give me some sample questions?

 | There is a difference, a library assistant is apparently more superior with more work. A library AIDE performs more basic and simpler duties. I applied for a library aide position at my local public library and it is part time and pays $10.49-$14.23 per hour. I'm in college so that is good money. Has anyone worked in a library in any of these positions or know someone who has? What do they do most of the time? What do they have to know?
