There are some teacher job fairs coming up in my area soon. Has anyone been to a teacher job fair? What can I expect? Will employer's ask questions and if so what will they ask? How should I answer? What do they look for in a future teacher? How should I dress? Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!

My husband and I are moving to the DC area for a job opportunity my husband was just recently offered. We are moving from Southern California where the elementary teacher job market is highly competitive; with little opportunity to acquire a teaching position being a fully credentialed elementary teacher candidate. I would like to know if the elementary teacher job market is about the same, less or has more opportunity for new teacher candidates. Thank you! Any info is greatly appreciated.

I've recently become friends on Facebook with my physics teacher and my mum isn't happy about that. She wants me to unfriend him because it's unprofessional and it's not a teachers job to be the students friend. However, and I've explained this to my mum but she won't listen, that he's my go to guy. He's my unofficial councillor, I’ve had a lot of things happen to me lately and I just need to vent. I've had the stress of exams, family problems and my ex girlfriend tried to kill herself over the weekend so I just needed someone to talk to, and I can talk to him. He's one of few people I feel comfortable enough with to open up about these things and just about anything and it's been a big help to me. And today after venting about my ex, he suggested that we become friends on Facebook so if something comes up, I don't need to wait for school and I can just message him when need be. And I thought this was a great idea so I added him but my mum saw this and has given me a lecture about student/teacher friendships and has told me to unfriend him. Now I’m not going to do that but what do you guys think? Who do you side with on this one, me or my mum?

I was offered a co-teacher job at a school in Spring Texas. The principal called my Friday saying she was going to recommend me to the human resource office. I called the HR office to make sure they had everything. It has been three days and I haven't heard anything back from them. How long does it take to get all the paper work ready?

I found this program that shows teachers job oppertunities all over the world. They pay for your rent and all you have to pay for is misc. stuff. You teach in a country for 2-4 years and then you get to pick a new one. This all sounded wonderful, except now I can't find it again. Has anyone heard of this program or one that would be somewhat similair?

My spouse was forced to resign by the wonderful IL teacher system. Hurrah! After being let go, she took a temp job for a month and half during the summer and decided it wasnt for her. She applied for unemployment and was denied because she quit her last job. They were not concerned about being forced to resign from her teacher job. Is there any way to protest this? Seems like they should be looking at both jobs.

I am wondering how much more difficult it will be for me to get a teacher job with a DUI on my record from when I was younger. I have had no offenses since and am a semester away from student teaching. I get nervous thinking about what will happen once I graduate because I fear I may be judged because of that mistake I made. Has anyone had experience with this ? And please, no lecturing. I recognize my mistake and have moved on and improved my lifestyle. I particularly would like advice on what I might say during the interview process when this is mentioned. Keep in mind, I am fully qualified and passionate about teaching early childhood. I am truly a good person, I just had a rough time in my late teens. I am sober now and have worked very hard to get to where I am today.

I think I may need to go get counseling for a issue. Mabey not, but if I do, do you think that I won't be able to get a teacher job because this will be on my records when they check it. I don't want to be out of a position because of they think I have mental problems. I'm not dangerous, just need to talk. My mom keep telling me not to go, what should I do? Again, I may not need it, but am considering it mabey.
