 | Ok so it seems like I have been applying for a teaching assistant job at HISD forever. I have just recently finished my bachelors. I have faxed my resume, called schools to check on my application and everytime i get an answer that they have already picked someone. Do they only select people on "connection" basis. if anyone who is already a teaching assistant at HISD can you please share how you got the job and what should I do?

 | In my borough schools say all vacancies are advertised on the county council website, but hardly any ever appear. Yet in another borough my friend asked to help out and somehow managed to land a teaching assistants job, even though she has no experience!
I work at a nursery so have some experience, but wonder if I should be helping out at a school for free rather than waiting for the perfect assistants role to be advertised?!
Also what is a teaching assistants salary, at infant level?

 | I am currently working part-time in admin and am looking to change my career. I would like to become a teaching assistant and then eventually a teacher. I have been looking at some teaching assistant job vacancies and they all want someone with experience and a relevant qualification.
I have also looked at gaining this qualification at a few local colleges but they all need you to be in a teaching assistant post, I'm a bit confused by this and would like to just get my foot on the ladder. Where do I start????

 | I applied for a job and I will be getting it if everything goes good. Well, my parents think it is a teaching assistant job and I am afraid they will kick me out if they find out. So what are some reasons I can tell them to make them believe that the school wants me to be a substitute teacher for a while until I can get teacher's assistant? Please help me.

Does anybody know when schools advertise for TA's for them to start after the 6 week hols (in september?). Is it around easter time? Also, how long is the application and interview process? In other words when would you know if you had the job or not? Thanks, Sam x

 | I am trying to find full time work as a primary school teaching assistant in West Yorkshire (north yorkshire as well If I have to). Does anyone know any popular sites that post a lot of vacancies on them? I want to get on a PGCE course at the end of this year and a TA job will help to ensure that. Someone please point me in the right direction.

 | 1) What impressions did you get from looking at our school today?
2) Why do you want to work at our school?
I have the interview tomorrow and it is for a Teaching Assistant job in a primary school working with two children with disabilities.
Any other information you have about these interviews will be appreciated.
Thank You

 | I am 20 years old and am currently training to be a secondary school maths teacher. I love working in schools but am having problems with my degree. IN some ways I wish it was over so I can have a full time job and a life instead of shifting from place to place and living on a tight budget. After my degree I want to work as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school, hopefully one with a strong sport ethos. I prefer being a TA as you haved a great job and a better work life balance. I have also worked at tuition centres, youth clubs, sports clubs, coaching schemes, summer schools and as a maths tutor. I am a qualified football coach and am taking other courses too. I got 10 A/A*s at GCSE and A*AB at A Level. I am getting a first in my degree so far. Do you think I can get a TA job and be happy because that's all I want and to be able to do other things like sports coaching and teaching adults. Do you know the best way about getting a teaching assistant job? I would really appreciate your feedback.

 | I am an international student who hope to get a teaching assistant job in college when I transfer. I heard I become eligible for paying in-state tuition. But if I don't work as a TA no more after one semester, do I have to pay out-of-state tuition again? or can I pay the in-state tuition for good?

 | I am a student majoring in modern foreign languages in Belgium and I would like to move to the UK (I'm thinking temporarily for now, but I might change my mind) to gain work experience in my field. French is my mother tongue, and I study English and Italian. I'm also minoring in communication studies. I still have a year to go before I graduate and I'm not interested in postgraduate education for now. Is it possible to have a job as a teaching assistant in any college with this? Thanks for your answers.
