I'm about to go out and look for my first personal trainer job and am wondering what to expect. What type of place did you work for, and what did you do? Were you allowed to shadow the first couple of days? Also, did they give you beginning clients to work with? Thanks!

So, I've always been interested in working around or with Aquatic Mammals. When I say Aquatic Mammals, I'm thinking wwhales, dolphins, those types. However I don't know how many jobs work with those animals besides being a trainer. Any jobs you know of?

I have applied for a Personal Trainer job at a local gym on several different occasions (most were NOT when the company was hiring). They ARE hiring right now, and I sent my resume via email earlier on in the week. Today I am going in to apply in person. 1. Is this a good idea? 2. Should I ask to speak to the manager (whos name was the contact on the job ad) OR the Personal Training manager?

If I were to apply for a job as a Personal Trainer, how would my employer know whether or not I am certified? Do I show them my certificate, or is there some other proof they ask for? If I am ACE certified, do they call the ACE or something to find out? or do they just accept my certificate? Thanks

I am not completely out of shape, by that I mean that today I did 30 minutes on the elipticle(sp?) trainer. My job requires me to stand and walk. I'm not sure about what types of workouts I should do to burn fat, and feel it in my muscles the next day (I like to feel the ache of a good workout lol). 3 years ago I lost 50 lbs by going to the YMCA, I gained it all back, and am now ready to make a real commitment, just not sure how to start. Elipticle is getting old.

I heard of ACE and NASM but is there a website where I can just buy the books/DVD and when I am ready, take the test? Is there a great demand for certified personal trainers as a job or business? How does it work starting your own business? Etc?

They have port cities (even though they're primarily for luxury liners) so they must be making something that needs shipping. Are there factories way off the beaten path? It seems like two companies, Silph and Devon, make everything Pokemon related, but what about normal stuff? What do the eat? Are there Pokemon slaughterhouses? Who makes their clothes? TV's? Furniture? Do Pokemon trainers get jobs when they grow up? It's got to be like professional sports, where some make it, and the rest move on to something else.

I wanna be a dolphin trainer because, well it's obvious isn't it? That would be so cool! But they don't make a lot. Especially not as much as vets and I learned that most dolphin trainers have other jobs to live, because 18 thousand a year isn't much to live off of. So, yeah could I do that because I really do love animals?

Under the ADA in California, it states: Trainer: allowed in same places as disabled; must be licensed or authorized; dog must be leashed; must carry identification; liable for damage done by dog... I am already a certified dog trainer but am wondering if I need to have a license to teach service dog duties and be a handler of a service dog. Research on google typically turns up with going to a school or a program to become a dog trainer, but none specify needing any further certifications/license to be a handler of a service dog or to teach.

I am currently at college doing business and accounting, but after my first year I hate it. The only parts I enjoy are about marketing, PR and advertising. However I have always loved sport and fitness and I am seriously considering changing to.a completely different course that could train me to be a personal trainer. So which jobs in this area are well paid, and would I be able to use my knowledge of sports in the future in the area of marketing and advertising?

I am a MSDE certified child care trainer. My job is to teach and certify potential and seasoned child care providers. These are individuals that own their own day care center or work in a day care center. I teach the desired or required course, then I issue certificates of successful completion once the student has finished and passed said course and/or workshop. Since I'm in busines for myself, I'm always looking for ways/ideas that will help me bring more business my way. I have tried ideas like offering seasonal special workshops, meaning, these workshops are geard toward activities or lessons that are normally taught during that time of year. Along with the sesonal workshop, I throw in a continued clock hour certificate, which all child care providers are in need of because they must show evidence of continued training to their licensing agency. I just know someone out there has some great ideas and suggestions, for a struggling entreprenur.
