 | I'm currently in my first year in college and I am stuck between these two majors. My main factor is location, and I heard from my dad that chemical engineering jobs are mostly located outside of main cities; this is a problem because I want to live in a big city. And any other info about these two majors would be nice :)

 | I was wondering if chemical engineers can get jobs in alternative energy, like helping design solar panels, wind mills, dams, and etc, would that be more mechanical engineering though? A chemical engineer in this discipline could help cutting material and chemicals needed for these types of projects down, and what material and chemicals would last and hold longer? i really do not know to much about chemical engineering, since every website gives just broad details about.
thank you very much, that cleared up a lot

 | I’m a chemical engineer moving to Brisbane next October. I have 6 years of experience working in Colombia but I’d like to know (in general) my real odds to get a good job in Australia in a field related with my profession.
I got a residence visa (skilled worker VE 175), and during the last years I’ve been working for the Colombian Government supporting administrative control over chemical industry.
Thanks

 | I am a college student majoring in chemical engineering and I am currently thinking about where I might want to move to based on the availability of jobs in my field. I would love to live in Anchorage Alaska and I am under the assumption that Oil/chemical/resources industries are big up there. Would anchorage be a good place to look for work as a chemical engineer? If so what companies are big employers there?

 | Basically, there are two different majors: chemical engineering major and chemistry major.
I am pretty sure right after you graduate from college with a bachelors in chemical engineering, you can find a job as a chemical engineer. But what about a bachelor of science in chemistry (note: not chemical engineering)? Can you find a job as a chemical engineer right after college with just a degree in chemistry?
Hopefully people who have experience can answer this question but any advice or information is welcome! Thank you!

 | I am doing a presentation on the importance of college GPA and previous work experience when it comes to finding a job as a Chemical Engineer. Among other sources, I figured I would poll yahoo.
So here are some questions:
What is the average required GPA to get into a decent (60k+) job as a ChemE?
How much weight does experience in the field (such as internships and co-ops) have in comparison to college GPA?
Thanks guys!

 | Hello everyone,
I have been out of school for almost 3 years working in the trades, now I am looking in going to a post-secondary institution to get a 4 year in engineering.
I have a few questions regarding chemical engineering.
1) How are the job prospects? ( Better than working as a plumber?)
2) Will you typically make a good standard of living, or the paycheck to paycheck lifestyle?
3) Due to my long absence from education, will I struggle with the material?
Thank you in advance.

 | I'm having a bit of a dilemma choosing what degree to do at university; i'm primarily torn between chemistry (possibly with physics) and chemical engineering, the big decider is the jobs and careers i can go into following it.
Obviously with chemical engineering, you can be a chemical engineer; but what does this entail and what is the sort of pay you'd expect?
Also what careers can you go into with chemistry and how are they different to chemical engineering, and what is the typical pay in these?
I'd like a career revolving around chemistry with a good pay and reputation...
Thanks everyone :)
