I want to get a job in the computer field and, I like to set up and configure routers to get the most out of them, and I like to monitor things. Like wireless networks, and make sure they're running up to their full power. Is this the right job for me? If it is, I was thinking of becoming a Certified Cisco Network Engineer, because they offer a chance to take the test at my high school. Please Help!

I am interested in becoming a network engineer and quite frankly I do not have the money to attend college.I am pretty good with computers and I am sure I can study and learn enough and practice daily and read to pass certs. I do intent on going to college later for cs but right now it doesn't look so likely. So would that work?

I am currently in the Navy working with IT. After I get out I am starting on a Bacholers program in Information Technology. When I graduate I will have my Network+, CCNA, and MCSE certifications. During college I will be able to work, "Basic Networking jobs" because of my time in the Navy. IF I kept on this path, could I eventually become a Network Engineer, or is there something else I need?

I would rather work with networking and hardware then concentrating on the programming and software. Any suggestions? I plan on going to the local tech college and gettng an A.S. computer networking and obtaining various certificates that would allow me to take the Cisco exams. I would like to work my self up to be considered a network engineer. First hand experience (both positive and negative) is greatly appreciated.

I'm 15, I am struggling to decide on some career options. I am torn between law and telecommunications. One of the jobs I am interested in is a Network Engineer but I am not 100?ure of what they do. I understand that they setup and configure networks for clients but I have many holes in my knowledge. Do they have to know Linux, windows, mac? If so, to what extent? How long would I be in education for until I reach the qualifications required? And what qualifications do I need? Thanks!
