I have an entry level separation from the national guard when I was 18 and heard that because of that I would never be able to get a "government job". Would this prevent me from getting a civil engineering job even if I had an engineering degree? I never even went to basic training and its not a dishonorable discharge just an entry level separation

I keep hearing on Yahoo Answers from people that there are a ton of jobs for recent Civil Engineering graduates that start you out at $60k plus. I'm about to graduate and half of my class haven't gotten job offers and the ones that got job offers were not offered anywhere close to $60k. So my question is where are these $60k Civil Engineering jobs so I can send this information to the people that are looking for jobs.

I am a student of university of alberta, edmonton, canada. I am really really confused between whether to take mechanical or civil engineering in my 2 year?? I checked all government jobs in edmonton, alberta, they all were civil engineering jobs. There was not even a single mechanical engineering job. Even I checked private companies in fort mcmurray, they also have very few mechanical engineering jobs. So, which engineering has its more future scope and jobs in canada and India in terms of salary??

Hi, I am 26 this year and have an IT degree. Am planning a career change and would be taking up Civil Engineering undergraduate degree in Western Australia. What do you think of my chances of being able to secure a graduate civil engineering job at the age of 31 after getting my Permanent Residency(PR)? Would it be really tough? Just a note, am Asian, and hopefully that does not affect my chances too much. Frank answers appreciated! Or should I go for Accounting and Finance? Would that be a better choice for mature age employment?

I will be graduating this may 2013 with my BS in Civil Engineering. From what I understand the prospects for a civil engineering job are low right now as the market for construction, design, etc. is in a slump because of the recent recession. I have internship experience and a GPA above 3.0, but I can't seem to get a interview with any company. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

I've just graduated from college in the US with a B.S.E. in Civil Engineering. I'm planning on moving to Ireland next year, but I'm having trouble finding job announcements for entry level civil engineering positions. How is the job situation in Ireland? Is there a good place on the web to look for jobs? I suppose I might also be interested in companies in Wales and other areas of the UK.
