Civil and Environmental Engineer Job Questions & Answers

I'm accepted into an undergraduate study into Civil & Environmental Engineering and also Electrical Engineering. I need to choose between the two. If I choose CEE, then I'll go into Transportation and Construction. I will go into electronics engineering for EE. I find EE more interesting, but I'm a bit concerned of the academic and job outlook aspects (studies in electrial systems, circuit theories, DSP, programming, etc...) as they seem more difficult and not as intuitive as CEE. And I haven't been able to find internships for undergraduates who finished their first year while I can find many more for CEE as job market for EE doesn't seem good in Seattle, WA, USA.

I can't decide on what major to follow. The subjects between Civil and Environmental seem to be very similar. I haven't seen many jobs advertised in Environmental Engineering compared to Civil Engineering. Is Environmental Engineering going to help me get a job when I graduate or is it just a rubbish degree and is it just best to stick to Civil?

I´m about to go to college, but I´m not sure what I want to study. Either Architecture, or Civil Engeneering. However, I found out about this thing called Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering, (sometimes referred only as Architectural Engineering) and I would like to know what it is.

I have a degree in civil and environmental engineering with a structural specialization. I have on year of experience in structural engineering and limited experience in mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering in building control panels for heavy machinery at a separate job than the structural engineering. I am interested in volunteer work abroad that would take advantage of this background. Ideally I would like my travel and living situation taken care of while I volunteer my time, but I have noticed that doesn't seem to be too common. Thank you for any suggestions.

I've been trying to get an internship in business and finance and I have a degree in Political Science. Although its a no-brainer that employers won't hire a candidate without the respective major, I've have some friends who've had degrees that relate to nothing to what they do, and still get the job. For example my friend, who was a history major happened to get a job in urban planning, which is a job specifically made for public policy admins or civil/environmental engineers. I really don't know what to do.

I know all engineering majors are hard, but I would just like to know which one is least difficult. Here's a list. Please order them from hardest to easiest. * Aerospace Engineering * Bioengineering * Industrial Engineering * Chemical Engineering * Civil and Environmental Engineering * Electrical Engineering * Computer Engineering * Mechanical Engineering I'm going in as a chemical engineering major but I'm having doubts. I think I will be able to handle it. I got a 5 on my AP Chemistry exam and a 4 on my AP Calculus BC Exam, and a 5 on my AP Computer Science exam. I also got a 5 on my AP Biology exam so I am actually thinking about Bioengineering. I like biology. Does anyone think that I will make it? Should I drop chemical for bioengineering? Do Bioengineers get good job opportunities?

I'm looking into some type of engineering as my major in college, but I'm not sure what would best fit my intended career path. It would be awesome to have a job where I could help create things that help the earth be a cleaner, healthier, safer place to live. What kind of major would help me best accomplish this goal? I know environmental engineering is more literal in the sense of 'cleaning up the earth', but I feel like civil engineering might better suit my situation. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm a 23 year old mechanical engineer. I've had experience (well not much considering my age) with both the office engineering job and the field engineering job. And after doing the office job for about a year, I know that I can't last in the environment. So I was wondering what my options are. I've been looking into environmental engineering and civil engineering, but I don't know if the companies would be willing to take the time to train me. I'm looking for an engineering job that is not only outdoors and exciting, but also challenging and rewarding. Simply put, I don't have the capacity or energy to sit and stare at a computer all day, every day until I retire. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. P.S. I live in southern California, if that helps.
