Mechanical Engineer Job Questions & Answers

I am a recent graduate and I'm having problems finding what the tasks of some of the entry level mechanical engineering jobs actually are. I know there's jobs such as application engineers or service engineers. I was hoping that maybe somebody could give me a list and a brief description of what the jobs on the list ask of the employee to do. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'll be graduating soon and I've got an offer already at this company that makes insulation. I'll be testing the strength of the materials. I've heard alot of stories from people saying they never use any thing they learned in school for their job. Should I expect most Mechanical Engineering jobs to be like that? where you dont use anything you learn in school?

Hello, I'm a senior in high school, and am going to major in engineering. I am thinking either mechanical or aerospace. I understand how aerospace is a more specific branch of mechanical, but in the real world, what would a aerospace engineer job vs a mechanical engineer job look like? Thanks for the help.

Hi, Where does a mechanical engineer usually work: In the field or in an office? Also, how much computer involvement is there in the job of a mechanical engineer? How stable are mechanical engineers' jobs and do they get paid well compared to, say, electrical engineers? Thanks for any help!

I was looking into different types of engineering degrees and I am not sure which one would be right for me. I really want to design things like robots or uavs for the army. I would also be interested in a more design aspect than the building. I really love google sketch and other graphical programs. I also noticed that almost most mechanical engineering jobs seem to be about manufacturing screws or ball bearing which doesn't look like fun at all to me. Would electrical engineering be better for this?

My husband is starting his last year of schooling as a mechanical engineer. Everyone has been telling him to start looking for jobs as soon as he can, but neither of us knows where to start. His career services at his school are not much to be desired. We'd like to get out of the midwest for awhile...hopefully toward the west/southwest. Does anyone know where would be some good cities for an entry level mechanical engineer to job hunt?

I just finished my first year of mechanical engineering at college. There's a paid graphic arts internship that I'm interested in and can easily get. Getting a mechanical engineering-related internship or job would be much harder because I live in NYC and things are competitive. How much should I worry about getting engineering-related experience in my first summer?

I am a student of university of alberta, edmonton, canada. I am really really confused between whether to take mechanical or civil engineering in my 2 year?? I checked all government jobs in edmonton, alberta, they all were civil engineering jobs. There was not even a single mechanical engineering job. Even I checked private companies in fort mcmurray, they also have very few mechanical engineering jobs.
