Photonic Engineer Job Questions & Answers

For religious reasons, I might not be able to be a doctor. My life long dream was to help people in the field of medicine. Are there any other jobs that do not require medical school to help in science? I'm considering psychology or even engineering but are there any jobs in drug development or fields similar to that?

Is this a good field to go into? Can I expect to see jobs when I graduate? How much can I expect to make?? Thank you!

I just want someone to give me some facts and personal opinions on how they think the economy will improve/decline over the next few years. I'm going to be a college student in the fall and I expect to graduate around 2015. I'm hoping the economy will be better by then but if it is not I'd like to be prepared. Anyone who can provide some insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. (P.s. I'm going for Electrical Engineering (Specifcally Photonic/Laser Electro Optical Engineering) If you think this job has any decent amount of security in the coming years, please mention it in your reply. Thanks!)

Hello everyone, I will be starting my senior year in my Electrical Engineering program attending NJIT. However I am having difficulty choosing a core, my options are Computer Systems, Controls, Electronic Microwave and Photonic Devices and Telecommunications/Networking. My initial decision was Telecommunications/Networking however I am not sure of the future prospects compared to the other options. I am aware that "Power" is a good choice however the teaching staff for this core is understaffed and replaced with non-professional power engineers. Any input will be greatly appreciated especially if a good compare/contrast is given, thankyou
