I am a Jr Engineer at an RF company and also an E.E. student. I keep hearing about how important Matlab is, but I find its easier to use Excel and simulation software. Some classes require me to use Matlab and I am struggling through it. I hate using it but would be willing to approach it again with an open mind. How vital is it for career opportunities?

I took some credits for Industrial Engineering but now I have a young family and I'm thinking about going back to school. Teaching sounds like a good option,I enjoy spending time with children and I see teaching as a family friendly job, especially for young families. I know I would make more money as an engineer and it worries me how hard it would be to find a job in both fields. Any experiences or opinions?

How much math do you need to retain when you graduate from college? does Electrical engineers use all the math skills of calculus 1 2 and 3 and trigonometry and physics? In school they teach you all that but how much of that do you really use in a job? what are the most common math skills EE use in a job. I'm asking this because i'm studying EE and I'm in college algebra level now, and I'm thinking how i'm going to retain all this information plus the coming math classes and physics. I would probably retain like 50?f what they teach me. Does EE use every single thing they teach you in math and physics? Please Help.

I don't know what I want to major in. Plain and simple. Although, I have narrowed it down to Computer Sciences, Communications, and Computer Engineering. Also, I want to work with A/V or Sound Engineering. So, Is it possible to create a pathway with 3 different areas of study to allocate a solution? Also what colleges would be able to support these specifications around the Alabama area?
