I would like to do something with computers for a living, maybe a computer programmer. Is there a school I can go to to learn to do that where I wouldn't have to take general courses like English and Psychology and Composition? I took one semester at a community college and didn't do well in any of those classes. Is there a degree I can get only taking the computer classes that I need to become a programmer?

A manager from a semiconductor firm asked me to find him someone that had experience doing verification on a CPU. He said to just ask them if they had tested the internals of a CPU to know if they were likely a fit for the role. Does any one know how'd you tell this by looking at a resume? I put an ad out and I'm getting resumes that I can't tell if people have done this work or not.

I want to know more about this job, like what are your daily problems and what you need to know. (im 15 btw) right now I guess I could qualify for a technician, taking apart a laptop or desktop, replacing parts, overclocking, soldering, diagnosis (some software) is no problem for me. for school, I'm good in science...but I lack in math. How much math do you use in a day or really need to know? what are your daily problems, things that are out of the ordinary. is the work demanding, deadlines/hard to do. what is your yearly salary (if you dont mind), I think its 70,000 average what collage did you go to would I be better off a technician because of my lacking in math? Im a rising senior in high school, and im still not sure what i want to do in college and eventually in my career. Im naturally good at math and science and im taking multivariable calculus at a local college, along with two college level sciences next year, physics and chemistry. i have pretty much been set on becoming an engineer, but no engineering field really interests me. I've recently been reading up on quantum mechanics, and i really find it interesting. Far more interesting than anything ive ever learned in school. Would getting a PhD in physics and researching this stuff as a living be realistic? Are there companies that have employees that do that stuff? What would a job like that entail?

So...recently I finished working on a project that was related to the oil & gas accounting software....and it was pretty easy, basically an ordinary accounting software with a few tweaks for the oil industry. Now...I know that solar energy these days is booming and kind of got me wndering if I can develop and offer software as a sole business of mine? I have some steady experience developing software, so the level of complexity is the very least of my concerns. On the other I will acknowledge that I suck when it comes to marketing and running a business (i guess) so I need at least a good idea to server as my motivation. What software for the solar industry do you think will be good? like: - accounting; - predicting silicon prices based on neural networks. - running hardware - mathematical calculations (solar/quantum efficiency, poison processes, cdfs, etc. etc.). I know there are some marketing obstacles...but do people need it at all? any guys working in the solar industry here?? 10x!
