 | I was recently offered an engineering job through a staffing company. The pay was 14$/hr with no perks or benefits, for 5 months. I couldn't get more out of them so i turn down the offer. But what i am wondering now is 'roughly how much of my pay were they going to collect?' Could the host company have been paying out, say, 17$/hr to me and the staffing company was going to collect 3$/hr?

 | I am a M.S. Applied Math major. I plan on taking some Mechanical Engineering courses. I want to know this. In California, do you need a PE license or any other license to practice an Engineering job? Can I have an engineering profession without any license? I like to do problem solving/research work (in the field/at a company), but I may plan to do technical or design work. Thank you.

 | I have no luck in getting a professional engineering job at the moment. So I am trying to get a casual job which will be beneficial for my value in professional career. Are there any examples of casual, "no-experience-required" jobs which are useful for gaining value?

 | In the software world, perhaps others, there is a concept of "senior" engineer and "staff" engineer. Some companies put staff over senior, while others put senior over staff. Which one is higher in rank and what is the difference?

 | I'm an engineering graduate from UofI and i want to have an engineering future. I applied to this position as a business consultant, performing SAP/ERP, quality improvement type of stuff (typical of an engineering position).
I just want to make sure this business consultant position experience can be transferred over to future engineering jobs that i apply for.
What do you guys think? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

 | What kind of an engineer would supervise and direct projects such as bridge building, road building, building towers, building windmillls in the sea, and by direct these, I mean that this engineer would be present at the site during the entire construction process and be outdoors the whole time with the construction workers. Would a mechanical, civil engineer do this type of work?

 | I will graduate with a bachelor's degree in computer engineering next spring and im starting my job search process. I was just wondering how some of you that are currently in the workforce found your jobs when you were about to graduate. Im checking all the job search sites(monster, careerbuilder etc) but was wondering if there are some other good methods to get your name out there.

 | I want to move to a state where the winters are warmer than in Chicago. I'm also thnking about Arizona, Texas, and Florida, but I'm thinking that they are too hot in the summer. Also, I want to look for engineering jobs (specifically civil engineering) in the future. I'd also like to move to a good-sized city that is near the ocean.
Which state out of VA and NC would you recommend?
Oh yeah, this is a good question: Which states have the most jobs for engineers?

 | Just gathering opinions...
I currently work as an RA in the dorms on a staff that I enjoy very much. I'm a very social person so this job is a great fit for me. I got a job offer for a software engineering job (I'm going into the IT field) that would require me to quit my RA job because it requires 20 hours of work which exceeds the 10 hours allowed by my current job.
Do you think I should quit my RA job to start relative field experience? If I take this job, I'll have to move off campus and it wouldn't allow me to be as social as I am now. I almost feel like I would be disconnected from campus and I would most likely grab an apartment nearby. Also, this way would save more money
My mom suggested being an RA because you're only in college for 4 years and you have the rest of your life to work. Any input?
Thanks!

 | I'm planning to attend a college that offers Air Force ROTC and graduate as a second lieutenant. However, I'd like to know what kind of jobs would be available to me once I do graduate. Could I be a doctor? If so, would I have to go to med school at some point? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

 | Originally intended on going back to school for Environmental Science, but it looks like college isn't going to work out. This is a field I'm extremely interested in and I'd love a job where I can work outside in nature. Unfortunately many of these jobs require a degree...I'm hoping someone can point me towards something that doesn't require a college degree. I'm open to technical/vocational school and/or on the job training.
