 | I am currently a junior in high school. I know I will be serving in the military after high school either as an enlisted member or an officer (still not sure). I am wondering if I were to enlist in a combat branch such as infantry, If I would be able to get a police officer job after military service. I am also wondering if the time of services matters. (like if I was in for 10-20 years enlisted opposed to 4 years would I have a better chance of getting a job with more years.) I know If I were to do that, I wouldn't be going to college, so I wouldn't have a degree. On the other side, If I was an officer, what type of degree would be best ( I am interested in criminal justice/criminology/sociology). I know I could also enlist after college too. If you could share any info/help on this topic that would be great. I have time to decide, I just want to make sure I will be able to be a cop after serving.

 | I was looking at a website for a probation officer job & they said the requirements were a college degree & no felony convictions. No problem there but i have bad credit will that stop me?
Or will the desperate understaffed probation department which currently assigns a caseload of 100 to each probation officer hire me?

 | The more I think about it, the more I want to be a homicide detective. I will soon have a Bachelors degree from West Virginia University in Criminology and Investigations. I understand that I do need to be a patrol officer first and I was wondering if someone could give me some details as to how to go about looking for a police officer job.  | I have good credit, steady job, but recently have been low on money due to bills and getting my car fixed. I'm worried that if he sees that my bank statement doesn't have that much money, he won't give me the loan. My husband on the other hand, has a good amount of money in his. Can someone please explain this to me? I'm going to see him Wednesday, and I get paid on Thursday. Should I go on Thursday instead just so he can see money in my account?

It's been a dream of mine for a long time and I've been putting off school for this for 2 years because I've been fighting it, but I lost. ( I was not the driver but was in the car while it was running :( ) anyways, should I give up? Or is it possible for me to still be a cop?

 | The NYPD requires 60 college credits for the job, but I think we need to judge elegibilty by criminal history, not education. If he speaks English and is fluent on other basic elementry stuff that's all you need.

| Ok so I'm kind of worried about my future & want to become a police officer! I don't have terrible grades they're just average. I'm raising them though.
So my plan is to join the army for a few years while studying crimonology and psychology. Then, when the contract is done I want to become a police officer. After that, I want to work my way into the FBI in part of their behavioral sciences unit.
Are these the right courses for me to take? If not which ones are? & what kind of degrees? Please help, I'm a junior in high school & I need to start planning as far as college and stuff.
