Financial Chief Executive Officer Job Questions & Answers

Sort by:
Welcome to this very important board meeting. The Chief Executive Officer of this company has given you a new job assignment and a very important task. As the new Director of International Operations, your first job is to prepare a report in which you will recommend which foreign nation should be home to the new factory that your company is going to build. The CEO has given you full responsibility for this decision and your recommendation is almost certain to be accepted. Selecting the proper foreign nation in which to build the factory will certainly result in a huge financial benefit not only for the company, but also for you personally. However, the wrong selection will definitely cost the company millions of dollars and cost you your job. To learn more about what is expected of you for this assignment, keep reading. When preparing your report for which country to build a factory in, there are several considerations that you will want to review. Most of them relate to economic factors, and it is up to you to gather the necessary information so that you can make your recommendation. Here are the "rules" to work by for this important assignment that you have been given. You are answering these questions so that you will consider how a country's resources affect a company's decision to locate there. For instance, why do you want to know about paved roads, deepwater harbors and communication systems? Why does the education level of the workforce matter? Do you need airports to fly in executives or are there other purposes? 1. Which region of the world are you to choose from? Choose three countries, one from each of the following three regions- 1) Central or South America, 2) Europe, or 3) Asia or Africa. Your task is to gather the necessary information from these three countries to help you make your final recommendation 2. What comprises the necessary information? At a minimum, you must collect data that would answer the following questi questions. Feel free to include other information that might be of value when making your recommendation, but the following information is absolutely required. You must answer the following questions for each of the three countries you choose to compare. # Where is this country located? # What is the population? # What system of government does the country have? Is it a stable government? # Who is the current leader? # Where is the capital city? # What type of economic system is utilized (market, command, mixed, traditional)? # What are the primary imports and exports? # Is it a rich or poor country? # What is the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) per capita? Compare this to your own country. # What is the estimated labor force? # What is the unemployment rate? # Is unemployment a problem in this country? # What is the educational level of the citizens (at the very least give the literacy rate)? # What are the natural resources? # What are the major industries? # Is there a connection between its natural resources and the products it makes? # What is the name of the currency and its exchange rate with U.S. dollars? # Are there adequate communication and transportation systems available? # If your company put a branch operation there, would it be satisfied with the communications system? Do most people in the country have telephones, for example? # What cultural aspects should you be aware of (religion and language)? # What is the present relationship that this country has with the United States? (Examples: Is the country a trading partner with the U.S.? Are there any major negative issues between the U.S. and this country that might influence your decision to build a factory there?) 3. How should I organize the information I have gathered? You may organize your data however you want. Just be sure that it is easy to comprehend and that it demonstrates a clear comparison or contrast among the three (3) countries you have selected. You may use tables to organize the above required information; maps and graphs that support your recommendation, spreadsheets, brochures, or even web pages are suggested. To receive an "A" you must present your findings in a unique manner. (i.e., include pictures, graphs, maps, or create a PowerPoint presentation.) Submit your work as you would if you were actually giving this proposal to important members of your company. 4. What must my final recommendation include? Along with the data you have collected and will present in some form, you must also include your final recommendation as to the country in which the factory should be built. This final recommendation should be put in writing and is to be one page in length (double-spaced). Your essay should be a minimum of 250 words and should not exceed one page in length. You must support your recommendation with specific statements as to why you favor one country over another. It would be wise for you to refer back to the data that you collected on each country in this recommendation. Give as many reasons as possible to support your decision but do not exceed one page. The CIA World Factbook is an excellent resource to use for this assignment. Economic, political, geographical and cultural information on every country in the world is provided. To begin gathering information about which country to locate your factory, this is the web site to visit. Copy and Paste this site into your browser: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/index.html PLEASE understand that I am NOT asking you to DO my work. I am only asking for pointers on how I can go about this assignment. Do you know any other resources for this? Would you like to give a little advice? That's what I'm asking. Thanks! I will give you 10 points if you help me good!! I will give 10 more too if you answer another one of my questions for answering this one good too...after all, it is a hard assignment. You do deserve 20 points for helping me. =)

Hi, I'm writing a paper about the laws that govern Apple's communications with their shareholders. I have to discuss what laws made them tell their shareholders about Jobs' illness. Since he is seen as one of the biggest assets of the company, it is obviously important to shareholders to know about him.. but what are the actual legal issues involved here? I really do not know a lot about legal issues, hence my question. Please help me out as much as you can!! Thank you so so much.
