I've seen those scam sites that ask you to pay for them to find you a job on a cruise ship. And I went on the Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruise, Carnival ect ect websites and couldn't find anything but a "bar manager" job. Any suggestion on how I am to pursue the job I want?

I've been a bar tender for roughly 2 years and now I want to progress to become a bar manager in order to further my career. Is there qualifications I can gain or training I can undergo in order to become a bar manager, or is it simply a case of getting a bar job where there is opportunity to get promoted and 'work my way up the ladder'? Thanks in advance! :)

All advertisements seem to be for Bar Managers and Food and Beverage Managers. Although I am currently a Bar Manager, I have never worked on ships before and would love to find a job as a Bar Man on a cruise ship.

I'm going to start applying for part time bartending jobs but I go to school during the week (daytime) and already work a different job weekend nights. Is it common for some bartenders to only work weekday nights? Can anyone with industry experience tell my if people worked this specific shift at the bars they worked at? Is anyone here a bar manager who could tell me if this severely hurts my chances of getting a job? I'm hoping places have openings during the week because every one else wants the busy more profitable weekend shifts.

I am interested in becoming a bartender and have never been behind a bar before. My choices are to go to school and learn or try to get a job as a barback and learn from there. Im not sure what is the best way to go about it. Will a bar or returaunt hire someone with no experience ? Bartending seems very difficult. Can someone tell me what drinks I should memorize so at least I could impress the bar manager when going on an interview. There are over 1500 drinks out there . How the heck do you remember all those recipes . Please give me as much valuable advice as possible. Please call my voicemail at 702-215-8038 and leave me your comment or you can leave me a message and I will call you back. Thanks !

How can u get bar managers to tell u if ur hired or not? How can you get them to just tell you they don't want you to work there instead of them using you for a good time? Examples: Making a second meeting with you by having an employee pretend to be a manager and telling you to come back to see the real manager the next day for an interview, they tell you the real managers name, and to be there, the real manager is in the back hiding or doing whatever, and on the day that your "pretend" interview is they real manager walks past you and says they never had an appointment with you and doesnt know who you are and has someone else there at your time waiting to be interviewed? Or they say they just hired a bunch of people or after the interview they say they're going to have a company meeting and that they're going to show your application to the supervisor and the supervisor will call you if they need a bartender/server. What does an applicant do to deserve this?

I am a server lookin for a job and I have had an issue with those personality pre-hiring test! I have a problem with the fact that they want you to answer them with your best honest answer! But everyone has got to lie on them to get them right- which they say "there is not a right or wrong answer!" Like the question: Have you ever know anyone to steal anything? The answer should be NO! But everyone has known someone- I don't care if you are Jesus Christ- you known of someone that has stolen even if it was a candy bar or a dime from mom! Theres the test that are true or false answers which I've come across those a few times. I usually run across the strongly agree-strongly disagree test! I'm good with the easy no brained questions like : do you feel like punching somebody in the face when they are being annoying ( not a real question but simmiliar!)? Of you wouldn't answer yes at a possible new job! (even tho you have felt that way at some point!) but when thy ask questions that you are not quite sure how to answer it or what they wanna hear! Like: when you see co workers are misbehaving (slacking) do you step in and say something? (that is not how it is worded but the same outcome!) now I would say no bc really I'm not a rat ( that's if they are asking me if I would tell on them) and I am not a "teachers pet" so I'm not gonna do a managers job. And tell people what to do- now if they are effecting everybody else then yea I would say something! So what are they asking? Do they want me to be a person who monitors my fellow employees and tells managers who is bein good or bad. Or do they want someone who doesn't tattle tell on others? There are a few questions that I can't figure out what they are looking for! Maybe I analyze them too much that it screws up my answers?! I took a test today called BHI security level! (Batrus Hollweg International-apparently they are popular choice for restaurant pre hiring test!) does anyone know how to pass BHI? Help I understand the reason behind these test! (They want honest good people to work for them!) Some of the questions are tricky, tho! And there are right and wrong answers bc they got an answer sheet for the questions! It's a bunch of BS!! How can one honestly know what kind of personality another has by these test? A manager at one of the many restaurants I applied at said the test described him to a T he sweared they are accurate! Whatever!! I just want a job as a server not as a cop or president of united states!

My friend wants to become a bartender and finished bartending school about 2 weeks ago. She's nervous because a bar manager told her to say she has 1 year experience but what if they ask where? I told her she can't lie on her application cuz it's illegal. I told her if she wants to say she has a year experience she should tell her intervewer that the restaurant was paying her under the table and she can't say the name. What do you guys think about all this?
