Cannery Worker Job Questions & Answers

I've been thinking of going up to work as a processor during the winter season in Alaska and I was wondering if anyone knows how much one can make. What is the typical hourly wage for a cannery worker? How long does the contract last? And lastly, what are some good companies to contact? Any help and some good stories would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

In my area I notice they are doing home and commercial construction, lawn care, fish cannery work on our coast, and work inside meat processing plants. Of course they are heavily employed in agricultural jobs. They are not just taking farm worker jobs. I forgot, we have a huge gang problem they also are heavily involved with.

I may be getting a job through a family friend working up at a salmon cannery. She told me they work long hours and you work with mostly foreigners. I can deal with that. I just want to know how much you can make out of a good season? I'll be going for this summer. What can I come out of the season with?

I'm sick of living an ordinary life and have decided to move to Alaska. I'm a 21 year old guy with no real attachments who is looking for a bit of adventure. Anyways I am interested in finding some kind of heavy labor work in Alaska before I actually get there. I'm really interested in working as an offshore seafood processor, or maybe something in oil or timber. I'm really looking for a comany that will pay for my trip either from VA or Seattle and give me a place to live when I get there.
