Do food technologists have to work with meat? Or could they choose to work with food that doesn't involve meat (like snackfoods, dairy, fruits, vegetables, bread, etc) I was thinking about getting a degree in food technology but I don't want a job that requires processing meat because I don't like the way animals are treated in the slaughterhouse. Plus I'm a vegetarian. I was thinking of nutrition as an alternative degree.... I'm not a complete vegetarian. I still eat dairy products (like cheese and yogurt) I eat fish occassionally.
