Federal Government Worker Job Questions & Answers

Most conservatives would say that if there is a demand for those government jobs, the slack will be picked up at the state or private levels. This may be true for some, but all? Wouldn’t cutting a large number of government employees all at once just increase the unemployment rate, thus increase the number of people collecting unemployment which would just be transferring the government worker to government dependant, therefore not really solving any problems in terms of spending?

Revenues are down for not only corporations, but also the federal, state, and local governments. So why is the federal government adding so many jobs? Don't you think they would be contracting due to the lower amount of revenue they are receiving? Here is the link you wanted http://www.usatoday.com/printedition/news/20080430/1a_lede30_dom.art.htm

What can be done about it? Also, how is the federal government chasing out jobs in United states and what are they doing to get them back?

I feel like this is a foolish question but I am rather perplexed.I worked at Auburn University as a student worker but it was as a favor and not awarded by the university. I am filling out some paper work for a government job in town, not affiliated with the University and it says I cannot apply if I have worked for a federal agency in the last 18 months. I know that Auburn is a state school so it is considered apart of the state government but is that federal because of student worker jobs?

Dear Prime Minister, When are you going to reserve jobs for Intellectually challenged able workers in Federal Government, like you do for Aboriginal and Torres straight Islanders? There are lots of genuinely hard working mildly Intellectually Handicapped young people who are unable to get an opening in Federal Government departments. If you have plans, could you please let us know how they can find one.

The people who work in private industry most times pay for their own benefits and make less than those of the government worker. Why should my taxes pay for the benefits of someone who does the same job as I do. Is this not highway robbery? So, why not cut their benefits out and place them on the same level as the rest of us, use that money to pay off our debt and tell China to shove it?

The average federal government employee makes almost twice the salary of an average private employee, counting fringe benefits.. This means if federal employees are cut, then half the economy will be cut.

Working for city, county, state, or even the federal government is probably the only job where you get to vote for the boss of your boss, so why would you need more representation than that?

Teachers, firefighters, municipal workers, etc.......The government can't support these jobs forever and 20 states are in a serious financial crisis. What will happen to these jobs next year? The states can't continue to support them, nor can the federal government. Do you think unemployment rates will continue to rise for years to come?

I'm an IT Specialist with a BS degree making $53,000 a year. Because of the Sequestration and other factors I think my best option is to leave Federal service for the private sector. How much pay can I expect to lose? I've worked 21 years with the federal government and am concerned private employers will not consider hiring me because I chose to work for the Federal Government. Anyone have advice on how to find a job and how much I can expect to lose by switching to the private sector?

The Federal Government along with the United Auto Workers Union will own Chrysler, essentially federalizing the company. What are your opinions on this development? The Federal Government will control a majority of the Common Stock for Chrysler. Don't worry ... the Federal Government is good at running things ... just look at the Post Office ... no wait, I guess that is not a good example! Or is it?

In Canada, placement agencies are know to take more than 50?f your wages and make you sign an agreement that you will not accept a job working directly for the company where you have been placed. The federal government are significant users of these agencies. Our government is participating in predatory staffing as the people hired are desperate. Been there myself and I have 8 years of education, 15 years of experience.

New Jersey and Oregon ban self serve gas pumps and stations hire attendants to pump gas.A law to ban self serve nationwide could create jobs.Federal highway funds could be reduced to states that did not agree. The Federal government controls the speed limit this way.People already have the training from self service. Attendants could check tires for proper inflation to save oil.I remember when full serve gas was available next to self serve and the price was ten cents more per gallon.People drive off without paying and do not follow the rules like no smoking.Gas stations in Florida are required to have emergency power for the pumps.
