Can overseas government contractors claim unemployment when their contract is up and they come back to the US?

My overseas government contract is up in a few months. I will no longer have a job when I get back to the US. Will I be eligible for unemployment benefits?

Unfortunately it varies state by state, depending on where you live (not work). New York, for example, tends to be a bit more liberal when it comes to unemployment benefits, however does not honor most contract employees as the individual signs up for the job knowing it will have an end date. Chances are no, that you're an independent contractor or there's a clause in your contract dealing with the issue.
