I want a job in the social service/non-profit field. The job could be childcare worker, counselor, overnight supervisor, aide or ??? I expect a pay cut from my current job but all that matters to me is that it pays at least $10/hr, 40hrs a week and offers benefits. I have a BA but not in psychology, social work or etc. I do plan to go back to school in a year or two. I don't have any related work experience. I have volunteer experience working with seniors, teens, child, homeless and people with illness. I have looked in newspapers and online. I have sent 11 resumes to different places. Only a few have responded. Except for one they say that I don't have any experience or education. Where do I look for a job? What do I say in my CL, resume or interview to show that I really want this job, am capable and etc. Is it possible to jump fields with no education or work experience?

What is the salary for a City Council Executive Assistant? Also, I work for the city government where I live as a social service aide along with assisting the Mayor's Disability Council. If I were going to apply for a job as an ECA would an Associate's degree in Political science be better or would an Associate's degree in Business Admin work as well? Thanks! It is the largest in land mass in the U.S. and in population pretty close

I have two University Degrees - one in History and the other in Sociology - I have a Diploma in counselling. The two fields that I concentrate the most on are social services and education as I have experience working in both group homes and schools. Its just so hard to get one of these jobs. Right now I am even volunteering my time as a business consultant so I can put that on my resume. I am willing to work in alot of professional areas but no one gives me a chance - areas such as project management, being an instructor in a corportation. If I stay in the factory job I am in then no one will hire me when they see that on my resume. Please give me some ideas and places I can go. I am 36 and the best job I got was teaching english overseas in korea - the rest was over here in canda - educational ASSISTANT with special needs - group home worker - SUPPORT worker. I am tired of selling myself short - someone please help me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that you can get paid by the government to take care of someone who is disabled but I can't find any information on it. Has anyone participated in one of these programs? I talked to a social service agent but he said it wasn't one of their programs. Any info would be a big help.

I want to work in the social services sector. I am about to graduate with an MA in Counseling Psychology (MFT track). What should I expect my salary to be as an MA? I want to take a job that utilises my degree and I want to ensure that I am not being undercompensated for the work that I am doing. I'm expecting $25-$30/hr. Is this realistic?

A quick phone call to many fast food restaurants or nursing homes could place many of the people with jobs. I know for a fact having worked in the health care field that the turn over rate for Nurse Assistants are high. These jobs are ALWAYS available. The question is, do they really want to work? It only takes a short time to become certified. Most people I know are finished in 2 weeks and put to work.
