Social Services Specialist Job Questions & Answers

I am an employment specialist and have been for almost 3 months. I work with men who have felonies and little to no work history. This is the first position in the social service field I have had since graduating from college. I have had the most difficult time acquiring contacts for my clients and when they are looking for jobs to apply for I usualy look in the newspaper and online job search engines (yahoo jobs, monster.com, ect.) I have went to a few companies in the area of my job, but find it difficult to speak to anyone who hires. How can I call/meet with companies and ask about employment opportunites for my clients.

I live in Illinois and am going to be transferring from my community college to a university to get my masters in child and family social work. I'm just wondering what an estimated salary is for this particular kind of social worker who has their masters. Also, which university is Illinois has the best reputation for their social work program (which university employers think as being the the best one)? Thanks!

I have an undergraduate degree in psychology and I'm currently looking for a job where I can utilize my skills without having to go back to school for a masters degree. I work in a regular office setting right now doing odd jobs for the company. What are the best jobs to look for where I can actually use my degree?

It seems my mother has paranoid delusions of people out to get her and a few more little things that effect her daily. If someone has a social disorder like schizophrenia or a social anxiety, where could they work and what kind of support system will they probably need? Any site information could be helpful in getting her closer to a healthier living.

I'm a social worker in a Catholic organization. My UHC coverage does not include seeing a fertility specialist. I am planning to look into invitro fertilization within the next couple of years after I get a new job. I want to stay in social work but not work for any more private church organizations. Is there any way to find out what's covered by a certain health insurance plan before accepting a job? Are any social work type jobs likely to cover that?

I am currently in college and don't know what I want to do in life. My current major is nursing but I am a nursing assistant and I know I do not want to become a nurse, despite the good job prospects. It is just not my thing. However, what are the prospects for someone with the above degrees? And what kind of jobs could I work with degrees in those fields? Ok, but what about international studies?

I am looking to get into psychology but I don't want to go to graduate school. People have scared me away and said the competition for clinical psychologists is fierce in the US. I'd like to put in 4 years or so. I'd be happy with being a mental health aid. What kind of jobs can you get with a bachelors?

Title says it all. Or what other degrees would you guys recommend for this career field? I go to Sac State University and they don't offer anything Digital Media/Social media. I want to go into being like a social media specialist (people that deal with Facebook, Twitter, etc). Would a mass communications degree be the choice for me? Or what other degrees would you guys recommend? Thanks for the help!
