 | I attended a nurses job fair where the unit director asked me to apply and allow her to look over my application. It wasn't actually an interview, we just got to talking at the job fair and she said she would be interested in having me. I have applied but have not heard back from her. It has been 4 days. Is it okay to call her? How long should I wait, and what should I say? I've never had to follow up with any job in the past, and this is new to me. Thank you all in advance.

 | The resident is jeopardizing my job to the director of nursing by telling lies on me, telling people that she is going to get me fired, calling me out of my name, and I heard the director of nursing tell her that she beleives what she is saying and I'm afraid that I will go to work one day and I will be out of a job. What should I do?

 | I have to do an assignment for class on writing a job description for a DON(director of nursing)..this is the assignment..A large acute care hospital in a major city wants to hire a new DON. The CIO of this facility is aggressively expanding the company and wants to implement an Electronic Health Record. She expects the new DON to have significant input into the process. Write a formal job description for the Director of Nursing (DON) job.
Be sure to include: description of the job, responsibilities and duties, minimum requirements for the job. As well as other items.
It would be nice if someone thats in healthcare can answer this and you can at least try to come up with something for the description and responsibilities
Can someone help me plzzz...I want an actual description based off what I stated not a sample of a different job

 | I work at a nursing home. Everyone got along and worked together up until last year in October. That's when we got our new DON (director of nursing). She has done nothing but cause problems. Let me tell you an example of something. This one woman I work with asked for vacation time. She said ok. And agreed to give it to her and even filled out the nessesary paperwork. Well a couple of days later another woman asked for vacation the same week. And keep in mind this second woman was a good friend of hers. Well who do you think she gave the vacation time to? Her friend. Not fair. I have heard some pretty bad things about her. A friend of a friend told me that she usta be a DON at another nursing home near here. She said that she would have her own clique of people. Those people would find info for her about people on the floor. And they would minipulate people until they quit. Well good job because as of lately our only workers are mostly agency because everyone is leaving because of her.

 | More or less, the "morbid" jobs, doctors, paramedics, nurses, morticians/funeral directors, crime scenes, etc? How do you know you can handle the 'ick' factor?
I mean, I've got an iron stomach when it comes to the goriest horror movies, but how do you know you can handle it in real life?

I do know kinda what they do... distribute mags, help with the activities, things like that but hoping someone who is one could give me a little more detail.

 | I am currently in college and don't know what I want to do in life. My current major is nursing but I am a nursing assistant and I know I do not want to become a nurse, despite the good job prospects. It is just not my thing. However, what are the prospects for someone with the above degrees? And what kind of jobs could I work with degrees in those fields?
Ok, but what about international studies?

 | I left my job of almost 1 year as director of nursing. I left under good terms and stayed on PRN well during my stay as PRN evidently rumors where flying around and it was said that I was talking bad about the facility and the 'NEW' administrator decided I should not be working PRN. So that was that. I was never given an explaination or anything, just not scheduled anymore and when I requested my PTO was told I was not eligble, which was fine only a few hours. But now I am looking for a new job and not sure how to handle my references. I am afraid they will give me a bad one, which is unjust, but what can I do. I never worked under the new administrator, so she can not fairly give me a referance on way or the other. But I cant lose a whole year of nursing managment experience. HELP!!!!!! Would it be professional to use my co workers since my supervisor is no longer there?

 | I've worked in health care as an ES Manager for 5 years. Now nursing is contesting the fact that the housekeepers should clean up all feces or body fluids and not only disinfect. It's always been past practice that this is considered patient care and nursing is responsible for it. I would like some documentation so I can take to my nursing administration for review. Thanks!

Where would be the best place to get a job: hospital, doctor's office, etc.? Where would offer more security? Which would offer better benefits and pay?

 | I'm planning to attend a college that offers Air Force ROTC and graduate as a second lieutenant. However, I'd like to know what kind of jobs would be available to me once I do graduate. Could I be a doctor? If so, would I have to go to med school at some point? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
