Licensed Practical Nurse Job Questions & Answers

I love medicine and helping people feel better mentally, physically, and emotionally. I believe the mind, body, and spirit are connected. I have three career options, occupational therapy assistant, licensed practical nurse, or registered nurse. If I were a nurse I wouldn't want to work in a hospital, I also wouldn't want to deal with too much blood. I love working with families, and helping people heal from their diseases. I tend to like to give advice on health. I also don't like to stay in school long.

I have a diploma of Nursing which enables me to practice as an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse in Australia which is equivlent to a Licensed Practical Nurse in the United States.. I have read the immigration websites stating that you need at least a Bachelors to obtain a green card. How true is this? Do you know any overseas trained LPNs working in America?

I'm currently studying to become a licensed practical nurse and would like to get a full time job in hotels for now. What are hotel positions that are easier to apply for? I'm just looking for a full time job at hotels that's temp until I graduate from my LPN program. I'm a 26 years old male in good shape and 6'2. So what kind of job positions that are easy to get that requires not much qualifications needed? Front desk attendant? Cleaning up the rooms? etc? thanks!

I am interested in going into the medical field but I'm not sure what I want to do. I've already wasted too much time in school switching my major and I am now transferring my credits to my local community college and finishing up this semester to get my associates in general studies so I at least have something for all the work and money I put into it. Anyways, once I'm done with that, I want to get a fast education to enter into the healthcare field. Which of these are the best option with the best pay and job opportunities? LPN (licensed practical nurse) Dental Hygiene Dental Assistant Medical Assistant CNA (don't want to do this one because i've heard horror stories)

I am interested in going into the healthcare field. I would like to get a job as soon as possible. I was thinking about becoming an LPN (licensed practical nurse) it takes about 1 year to complete. What other healthcare programs are out there that don't take too long to complete and will get you a job fast?

I'm currently majoring in elementary education as a sophmore. I am so tired of school already. It's very stressful. I have more than two years left. I thought about being a licensed practical nurse, that only takes one year. I am a very caring, compassionate and loving person. I love children, I'm very creative and I love helping people if they need advice. Math is my weakness.I don't know what to be, teacher or nurse. I don't do too well with blood or p**e. However I have a caregiving nature. I am also an empathetic sensitive person. When it comes to money, I am not money hungry however I need a job with decent amount of money. Help please!!

I was just wondering if I can be cut out to be a licensed practical nurse or a medical assistant with a shy personailty? I mainly want to do these jobs because of the pay but I just want to know what type of interactions would I have with the patients? Also I would like to know if there is any "behind the scenes" jobs that don't involve a lot of social interaction that still are in the medical feild but with similar pay?

I have a bachelor's degree program in business management and I want to go back to school and get a healthcare degree. My job is currently secured, but you just never know. I've always wanted to get into healthcare but don't know which position is for me. I am thinking either Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse. Which is a better position for me? Thanks for any advice.

I am currently a Nurses Assistant right now. I am using it for experience then upgrade my nursing career to at least a Licensed Practical Nurse so I would be making more money at least. I do not want anyone to tell me for an RN instead yes it is a better decision but I could upgrade to an RN in the future after gaining experience as an LPN if I do not want to stay as an LPN forever. I was told that if I went for an LPN I would be able to make a decent living with it at least where I live where the cost of living ranges between 40,000-49,000. That fits about perfectly with an LPN salary on how much they make a year. I have researched online that LPN at least in long term care and rehabilitation centers can earn as much as $57,000 or close to 60,000 a year at from now to 2018 that is going to be a 22?ncrease in LPN job employment which is also a good thing. the thing is I would like to work in a hospital at some point too but from what I have seen online there is not as much employment in LPN in hospitals as much as there are in nursing homes and such. Even if there were I hear LPN's are very low paid in hospitals. I am also asking can I make a living working as an LPN in a hospital or anywhere as long as it fits in the cost of living in that area. I am not trying to be filthy rich or anything I am just trying to make a good living for myself.

LPNs (Licensed practical nurse) in Canada go through 2 years of college. Is that equivalent to an RN program in the States because I heard that being an LPN or LVN in the States only takes one year of college?? Is an RN program a college program in the States? How long is the program? If I get an LPN license here in Toronto, Canada and take a equivalency exam to work in California, what would my job description and title be?

I am a licensed vocational nurse (licensed practical nurse in other states) and am working in the department of corrections within the department of mental health making $90k a year. I am questioning my future and my ability to stay happy with this profession. I am really questioning joining the military. Possibly coast guard. What are my options with my nursing background? Any fields that I would have an advantage in joining? Anything my state time would help with? Should I go for reserves considering my age? Any opinions? Just scratching the surface.
