Medical Records Technician Job Questions & Answers

I am 26 years old. I have some college but no degree. I presently work as a medical records technician making only $11 an hour, a steep beating from my already modest former pay of $13.50 an hour during my last assignment. I've worked so hard at every job I've ever had(I get tons of praise) yet the door never opens. Is there something wrong with me? Am I behind for my age? Honest answers please.

I am looking for a new career field, I am in photography but I am not making enough money. My sister suggested that I could file medical records or something like that, but I want to know is there schooling I should take or just fill out applications and hope I get a job? I have never been to any college so I am up for any advice! I am a shy person and I don't like dealing with the public a lot. Tank you for any advice you have!

Careers such as medical records clerk, medical billing/coding, registered health information technician/administrator..they suppose to pay really good and be in high demand but from what I have researched the pay ranges from 10-16 per hour. Is this what people are considering "good money" or do these types of jobs pay more?

All three programs for them are offered at the community college here. What are the main differences? Which one is the best? Which has the highest salary? Particularly, what's the difference between a billing & coding specialist, and just a regular "Medical office specialist"?
