I am thinking about taking a course online through penn foster. I want to know which one will have more jobs. I did a search online in my area and it seems like there are more medical biller jobs. Most of the secretary jobs looks part time. Is it hard to get a job without experience?

There are many jobs in a hospital setting, doctors' office, or nursing home that would bring a person into contact with patients. I just was unsure if having worked as a medical secretary with patient contact would count enough to make a good impression on a nursing school application. Can anyone offer advice? Generally speaking, what are the previous job backgrounds that really make a good impression on a nursing school application?

What do medical secretaries do? Are they required to do grunt work for the doctor, such as picking up dry cleaning, making coffee, and just generally being a flunky? Or do they do real work? Just wondering.

I am thinking about taking some medical coding courses and possibly being a medical coder but I am also thinking about being a medical secretary. I know secretaries should have some coding knowledge, so I thought I could become a certified medical coder. I want to be able to do either profession depending on job opportunities.

I'm thinking of re-training, and would like to know more about becoming a medical secretary. Is there a specific course or qualification required - I've googled this and can see that Medical Terminology is one, are there any others? I already have pretty good administration skills.... but would these be enough? Also what are the rates of pay like, and is there room for progression and development? Any info or advice would be gratefully received, thanks you guys!

I work full time as an IT manager whilst my wife has worked as a legal secretary and recently spent 2 years working as a medical secretary. We cannot find her a job that allows her to both drop and pick up our 6y old daughter and heard about digital transcription services. Has anyone had any experience of these and know any good companies to sign up with. Also what are the pitfalls and scams ect.

I'm a medical secretary, but have been put on reception? I temp as a senior medical secretary and was concerned that today, my first day in my booking, I'm on reception! I hate reception and wasn't booked for this. Shall I just keep quiet and be grateful I have a job or tell the agency? I'm only here this week and still get the same hourly rate as a secretary.

Trying to figure out what the most in demand office type jobs are now in 2013. I worked for a mortgage company for about 10 years and we all lost our jobs when the company closed. I need to look in to a new area of employment. What is more in demand, basic receptionist/secretary for any company, being an administrative assistant, getting into the medical field either as a medical secretary, medical records or billing and coding. I have years of clerical and office skills I am hoping to apply that to get a new career. I have heard the medical field is stable. After being in the mortgage field I don't want to do that again, so many people lost their jobs. Any suggestions

I'm looking into going to a trade or career school, such as penn foster, metro business college or allied college and I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who has gotten a degree or certification from any of these type of schools and found a good job in a decent amount of time. There was a few things I was considering such as medical coding and billing, medical transcription, administrative assistant, medical secretary, personal trainer. Has anyone done these jobs with any luck?
