 | I am kind of confused. I've done lengthy research, too. Do you major in Midwifery Nursing and get a job in that area immediately or just Nursing [RN] and get a job with that and move into the neonatal area after working for a while?

 | I am planning on moving within the next 6 months to Portland. I am a fairly new nurse working for a couple of years, but have some good certifications under my belt for the field I want to work in, trauma. I am just wondering if anyone is aware of the RN job market in Portland and if the high unemployment rate includes healthcare as well. Any information would be great.

 | I am 17 and thinking about studying to become a nurse when I go to college because I don't want to go to grad school. I heard that after college nurses can easily get a job and make alot of money. I heard that nurses(RN) instead of working in ER or critical care units. What are some other areas nurses can work in with only a bachelors or Associates degree and still make alot of money?

 | I have a BS degree in business administration and have decided I want to work in the healthcare field so I have taken all the prerequisites for nursing (RN). After having completed the prerequisites, now I am not sure I want to be a nurse, but I am very interested in the healthcare field. What type of job can I find in the healthcare industry with the education I currently have (BS Business Adm, Anatomy/Physiology/Microbiology courses). I really need to work as soon as possible and I do not want endure much more schooling.

 | I'm thinking about becoming a nurse.(RN) to be specific. So that means after 4 years of college. What is the job outlook. Are there a lot of job openings for RNs? I've heard mixed comments, saying that there are and aren't a lot of jobs for nurses. Also, what is the pay for a starting RN?

 | My wife has been working as a RN at a hospital in Wisconsin for 10+ years. Recently she got her Master's degree and passed her boards to become a Nurse Practitioner. She is continuing to work in her RN job until she is able to find a NP position. However, the hospital has informed her that because she is now licensed as a NP she will be terminated in 90 days. Nobody has been able to give us a reason for that besides "hospital policy." She does still hold a RN license.
Is this legal? If they do terminate her, would we have grounds for a wrongful termination case?

 | I am planning on going into nursing (RN). Would it be better for me to go ahead and get my B.S.N.? Would I be ok if I just got an associate? Would it be harder for me to get a job with just an associate?

 | I'm 18 and I'm planning on becoming a Nurse (RN). I'm a Canadian Citizen and would like to move to the states after I get my degree.
What would I have to do to legally get a job in the US? Also, how do the work permits, visas, etc. work? Would I have to contact an employer in the states and have them sponsor me or something? How long does the process usually take?

 | I am taking my pre-reqs for nursing-RN (just starting), and I work for 2 home health agencies as a CNA. I was wondering if they give priority to people who have had a job in the healthcare industry. I know they go by higher GPAs, but I was wondering if they also consider your healthcare background. Thank you!

 | I am looking into possible career choices. I know I am interested in medicine and I would like to be able to go part-time if I ever have a family. I know that being a part-time nurse (RN) is very common. However, I like the job description of a Physician assistant better. I was wondering if there is the option to go part-time when needed, or is that I difficult position to find? Thanks for the help!
