Radiation Therapist Job Questions & Answers

Sort by:
I've been very interested in Radiation Therapy as my main career choice lately. However, my mom doesn't believe it's a good idea because it would be a tough job emotionally. I'm a very caring and loving person so I feel like if I brought the right kind of energy to the table the patient would stay calm and relax. Am I looking at this all wrong? Could anyone fill me in on what it's like to be a Radiation Therapist and what you go through on a day-to-day basis?

I want to be a radiation therapist but I have heard some scary stuff. I know that you are not in the room when you are administering the treatment but what about after when you go in to check the patient? Isn't there radiation in the room still? Also what are some of the things to worry about being a radiation therapist? Schooling, work wise, environment, patient care, etc.

I live in east TN and I am interested in being a radiation therapist, but I am not finding any majors for this. Does anyone know colleges within a close range of Jefferson City that offer this major?

In what should I major if I wish to become a radiation therapist? I was thinking Biology, but I honestly don't know what is needed. The college I was planning on attending does not have any type of Radiology majors...I don't even know if those exist. So in what should I major? Would I need any schooling beyond a Bachelor's?

I am currently deciding my major and a Radiation Therapist sounds like a fun and easy going job i can do and make people happy even in the most depressed moments. I wanted to know are you really exposed to that much radiation, that you can possibly die within 5-10 years? im kind of oblivious to this field and want to know more. Anything would help but thats my main question. If you would like to answer about schooling, tuition, salary, hours, days youd have to work, anything itd be nice to know! thanks

I'm almost done my degree and I'm trying to decide where to go work; Quebec, Ontario or New York. If anyone is Radiation Therapist, please give me some details if you don't mind. I don't want to know your exact salary, that is private, but a range would be great. And if you have info on job openings, that would also be useful. Thank You!

Not too big just like a 00 which is about pencile or cigarette size. I want to be a radiation therapist and I love anything in the medical feild but I also love tattoos and peicings and apparently the two do not mix very well. But im still curious.

I wanted to be a radiation therapist but it seems that they are not hiring. I live in Texas and I really want to stay here. Is there any careers that I should look into that does have a great job outlook? Something where I can talk to patients all day, reasonable hours, 60k+ income? NOT NURSING. I'll most likely go to either Texas State University or The University of North Texas. Thank you in advance.

I also have an Associate in applied science for Radiation Therapy. I haven't had any luck finding a job as a radiation therapist so far though. So I was hoping to find something to give me an edge and or money in my pocket. Currently part time as a home health aide.

I want to become a radiation oncologist, but I plan on working my way to the top starting as a radiation therapist; I was wondering, what are some of the side effects that tag along working in this type of environment? Can this job cause premature wrinkles, etc.? I'm sorry... I'm vain.
