Hello, I'm a 19 year old male currently attending college. I don't think college is really the right thing for me at this point in my life so I have been considering taking a break and getting my foot in the veterinary trade by looking into veterinary assistant jobs. I'm easy to work with, willing to learn and punctual. I love all types of animals, from dogs and cats to snakes and chinchillas and hedgehogs, the whole deal. I'm not scared to be bitten or scratched. I'm not scared to give injections. However I suppose the only problem I would have, besides lack of work experience, is my cat allergy. Whenever I'm around cats for more than an hour my eyes puff up and I sneeze and cough and it gets worse throughout the day. Usually I can avoid irritation in my eyes if I wash my hands nice and good but the sneezing is harder to counter. Is this something an vet would be unhappy to hear? Compounded with my lack of education and experience in the field, this might be a problem for me. Any information would be helpful. Also I'm not ruling out college for next year, simply exploring other options.

Hey guys, I am looking for ideas for a job working with animals. I don't want to hear the typical veterinary jobs, etc. I'm looking for something possibly working in an animal shelter. Any suggestions are welcome, if you post a job, try to put the amount of schooling with it. If you don't know the schooling requirements feel free to still post a job, and I will obtain the schooling requirements myself. Thanks guys! haha I am not high enough level to respond to the butcher comment but if that was meant to offend sorry ! haha I am seriously laughing, thank you :) now anybody have serious answers?

I know the pay isn't very great, but I haved loved animals ever since I can remember. What do you deal with on a daily bases? Is there any other jobs you could move into with an associate in veterinary technology? Are jobs in this field hard to find right now due to the economy? Any input is appreciated. Thanks Also could you do anything in the vet/animal field with a bachelors degree in Biology without having to do anymore schooling?

The job entails wearing scrubs on a daily basis, so obviously I won't wear scrubs to an interview, but what should I wear? I have been told that a black blazer and black pants with a collared shirt would fit any job interview but I sort of think that its too corporate for this type of job position, am I wrong? Should I go with the Black/White/Black look? What should I wear? Are wearing colors bad? Do I have to wear the blazer jacket?

I really want to be a vet because I love animals but I don't want to perform surgeries because that grosses me out. Is it possible to be a vet and not perform surgery or do all vets have to perform surgery? What Other degree required jobs in the veterinary field are there that involve minor or no surgeries at all?

There is an ad in the paper for veterinary receptionist and the job is located only 5 minutes from my home. Which is great because I don't want to be too far away from my baby. (yep i'm a first time mom) I am currently a stay at home mom and would like to get back into the work force. The ad doesn't have specific requirements for the job so I was wondering what does the receptionist do. I have heard some say that you also have to help clean cages, etc. Please help. I am thinking about applying Monday mornng. Thanks in advance! i would also like to know how much they make? city: fayetteville,nc i only asked because a family member was telling me something different. thank you very much :(

I do not have a goal in what job I want to be when I grow up, and I find that I will need to know so very soon. Are there any good paying jobs out there in these fields? I'd like a job in areas of marine biology, animal biology, medicine, pharmacy, music, environment, or paleontology? I'd really like it if you could put their average salary. Thanks!
