Hello everyone! Im interested in becoming a x-ray technician. However, my co-worker told me that x-ray techs live a shorter life because they are exposed to radiation on a daily basis. From my understanding, x-ray techs wear a patch which detects how much of radiation they may be exposed to.Im very enthusiastic about becoming an x-ray tech, however, I don't want to live a short life.LOL! Please give me soon prompt feed back.

My worst fear is that when I finish school for radiography I will have an extremely hard time finding a job. Some people are telling me that will not be the case, others are telling me I should have pursued nursing or something else more in demand. I would have if the idea of nursing, etc. excited me but it didn't. Nothing against nursing, I absolutely respect the profession, but it's just not for me. Anyways, are my concerns valid? Does the supply of radiographers/x-ray techs/radiologic technologists/etc. outweigh the demand?

I live in the northern suburbs of Chicago, if that helps. Thank you all so much!

I am going to start a program soon for a Limited X Ray Techninican/ Back Office Medical Assistant. The more I've researched the less this sounds like a good idea. I live near San Diego and haven't found many X Ray schools. Does anyone know where I would go to get the complete licenesing after I get the limited scope? Thanks In advance... Also I am paying about 23,000 for this program which is a year long. Does this seem reasonable?

R T has been a long term goal for me. I've done lots of research on the field, but I've come across a school in kansas city, mo that has a medical x-ray tech program. I would like to start work in the field and work my way up. I want to return to school to get more education, but what is the difference medical x-ray tech / radiology tech?
