I'm in college right now and I will become an officer in the Air Force when I graduate so this summer is my last free summer. I really want to get a job at Old Orchard Beach and live there so I can have a great summer. It is also the perfect time since I'm 21 now. Does anyone know how to get a job there? Usually you would go and get an application but I'm pretty sure the stores are all closed there until summer. Also does anyone have any tips for getting an apartment there?

I know there's a driver, co-driver, mechanics and so on; but what goes on behind the scenes? What about managers, chefs, who else is involved in making a rally team function? Please help, thanks!!

I'm considering moving (all still up in the air, of course), but I was wondering two scenarios. It's hard to look for a job if you're not in the area to physically scout the place, speak to people in person, etc. Yet, if you move without a job, there's not really a source of income. I'm not sure what would be best. I'm certainly not rich, but job hunting can take a long time (especially with the economy as it is now.) What do HR managers/more experienced people think?

I was terminated from my employer for a payroll issue.I was brought in as a csr promoted to manager and promoted to higher volume area without any training. Numerous questions were still out there with no help from supervisor. I operated a 24 hour store and was down to 3 employees. AFTER working a 21 hour 18 hour 16 hour shift back to back I made a mistake on payroll. Contacted Human Resources no return call. Supervisor was laughing at me and saying your back is up against the wall now huh! So I didn't trust him for him to come in the following week and terminate which was a favor for me!! Well after investigation on issues Human Resources finally called and of course I went to unemployment! I would never go back. But now each employee had to sign a confidentiality admonition and the new manager there is telling numuerous lies and bluntly discussing problems that occured after my termination. She is litterally embaressing me and I am not there to defend my self. What should I do?

My daughter started working at this restaurant chain that is all about families, kids, and ice cream. She is going to college and needed a part time job. The managers for these places are drop outs and idiots. In less than six months they had no less than 4 managers come and go. She was rated the top employee until the last pimple faced loser manager. When she gave her two weeks notice as a waitress he told her to leave immediately and that if she ever came back he would have her arrested. For What? Can a restaurant have you arrested for just coming in when it is open to the public even when you are paying and have broken no rules? I was horrified to find out that most of the staff were convicted criminals. I was begging her to quit every week. I was afraid for her in the parking lot at night. So the next time you see the advertisements that show families eatting burgers and saving room for the sundae, be careful most of the staff may have criminal records!

Today at work a fellow employee found an empty vodka bottle in my purse while digging through my things and told the manager. The manager fired me on the spot even though it was completely empty, I wasn't intoxicated in the least bit, and it was only there because I didn't clean out my purse from the night before which I explained. Can they do this? I live in BC, Canada. I was anything but drunk, it was clear as day.

I am a college student who works in a local restaurant. Recently, I was in an argument with a manager who told me that I didn't deserve a break after five hours of work. Since this altercation my work hours have went from 25+ per week to just now 4 hours. I have been removed from weekends and co-workers who ask off are not allowed to have me work for them. When they ask the manager, she replied "I cant let you switch with her and I can't tell you the reason why." I was told by a friend that this was illegal for hours to be cut for punishment reasons. This seems to be an on going trend at this restaurant. Please Help!

I work in an organization with mostly white males (90? i have come across a few good people and the rest of them are pretentious(fake). they make sexually tinted comments, condescending statements about women, gossip all the time and waste a lot of time just BS-ing around. these are white men in their 40's to 60's and they treat women as the lowest grade no matter what a woman's talent/ position/ achievements are. recently i spoke up against sexually inclined comments and they stopped when i am around. but now, i have been made the least important person in the team. despite contributing a lot to the team, the only result is an ego backlash. even the manager justifies that they will talk such BS because they are men! how do you deal with such people? are these kind of men nothing but a BIG bubble of ego? what is the best way to handle these people at the workplace? going to HR is not a great idea as it will eventually get me fired. these people know how to covertly harass me if i go to HR. they are also very good at ganging up and proving that they are right. any other suggestions/comments/ideas? Thanks everyone including darin88, who probably does not understand that i am facing a real issue.

Relying on Steven’s promise, the manager waived the deposit requirement for Steven’s mother. After the trip, the mother refused to pay and so did Steven, stating that his promise was not enforceable under the Statute of Frauds. Is Steven correct? Explain.
