I just started my job a little under a month ago. I know a 'shift leader' needs to know how to do all the positions (cook, drive through, front cashier), count the drawers, do the cash drop, count inventory, and waste. Is there anything else I would need to know? I currently work at a set schedule, if i became a shift leader, would that change? Are there any tests or time requirements for the position? Thanks!

I am a fairly new employee and still have questions and need assistance in some of the things I do in the fast pased department I work in. I work very few hours so even though I have been on the job for 6 weeks, I have yet to work a total of 40 hours. I am working 8 hours a week or 15 if I am lucky. I have learned alot but still need to aske quesions. We have to be perfect in everything we do so I need to asked questions so I don't mess up. THis manager criticizes everything I do. She said it isn't working out and wants to send me to a lifting job (I am a 90 lb female) in the stockroom. I want to stay in the area I am in . I didn't apply for it but I like the job now if she would stop criticizing me. She is new but she works 40 hrs week so has more opportunity to learn compared to my 8 hours. What can I do?

Here's the question: You are a with 25 people under your supervision. You do not have the power to hire and fire employees, grant pay raises, or promote people. Furthermore, the union contract severely limits your ability to move people around from one work assignment to another. You are not allowed to give compensatory time off. In general, you lack control over the material things people value. Describe your situation in terms of the various reinforcement techniques available to you.

Like will I be able to get a job as well as job placement assistance, ect... I've looked online but there isn't enough info about it, I've only found like two reviews about this school but I need more info... Also does it matter who its accredited by?

I'd like management to start taking me seriously. I work in a call center environment dealing with finance and compliance. All my calls are from clients who ask questions seeking advice. I think I do a pretty good job and haven't had any complaints (to date, knock on wood.) How can I get clients to voluntarily call my supervisors, and/or managers to say how good I am? I know this sounds dumb but I really want to start being taken seriously.

My sister gets praised a lot at work, she works at lord & Taylor. I work at bath and body works, its my first job. I never get praised. I'm just wondering is it because I'm doing a bad job? I always greet customers and stuff, well today was my second day.

You know the questions on some job applications that ask gender and race? They also ask questions about weather you or anyone in your household has received government assistance. Do these effect my chances of getting hired? I know they say these are voluntary, but I am uncertain if not answering effects my chances of getting the job. What is your opinion? Do you have any first hand experiance that can shed light on the topic? These questions are actaully asked on almost every application that I have filled out recently, even the big companies. If you dont belieive me go fill out some applications, either online or go a few big reatial stores and see for yourself. btw, I live in the U.S.A.

I'm not a manager but have been given the task of hiring and training new staff. Two weeks ago I hired an aquaintance of mine and now the owner's mother, who is running the business while the boss is on vacation, has told me to fire her as she has been consistently short on the register by $12+. In additon, she leaves the store messy, and other staff have complained. If it were up to me, I'd give her another couple of days as she finally managed to balance her register within the specified limit. The concern I have is that she isn't grasping the job as quickly as is needed - I've had to talk her through the process every night when she should have remembered/figured it out on her own by day 3. The owner's mother already has a replacement waiting so now it's up to me to get the ball rolling. Any advice on what I should say and how I should say it? Thanks.

I hurt my back last December on the job. I informed my manager at the time and continued to do my job as we were in the middle of a remodel. Recently my Area Manager threatened to fire me if called in or left early because of my back one more time. I told him that this injury happened at work last December. He suggested that I take a leave to get my life in order. I'm seriously looking into changing careers. I would like to know my rights in this situation.

I just started my own electrical contractor business (no employees, only myself) and I did a couple of service calls for a company, and afterwards sent them an invoice for $640.00 It's been almost three months, and I still have not been paid. I have contacted their maintenance manager ( the one who called me asking for assistance) and their accounts payable. They don't even return my calls, and I am tired of calling. What's the best way of sending this unpaid debt to collection? Who has to pay for the collection expenses? Please advice. Thanks

I was hired for a job as a assistant, hourly employee. On my application and when I was hired, I discussed and informed my manager that I have a Felony Conviction. Since then, I have been promoted to a management position, where I work in an area direclty related to my prior conviction. Although I have completly changed my life around, can they fire me at any point for having a conviction? Or since I already discussed this with them, am I safe?
