Human Resource Generalist Job Questions & Answers

I have two Human Resources Internships.... One in 2003 and one in 2004. None RECENT THOUGH. I am about to graduate with a minor in Human Resources and Society. Will employers still look to hire someone who doesn't have "recent" internship experience before they graduate from college? Am I qualifiable for a Human Resources Generalist position?

I am in my early 20s with a BS in Psych and CJ. I want to work in the Human Resources field. How does one get started in this field? Jobs are scarce these days, but the only positions I have found are the director/asst director or generalist. Where does one start? I prefer to work for the govt as I work at the state level now. Not the best paying job, but the benefits are pretty good.

For the last 4 months, I have submitted endless resumes to the online databases such as monster.com, careerbuilder.com, and HotJob.com. Also, applied online to large to mid size companies in the Baltimore, MD area from commerical to government jobs. My qualifications: BS in Information Systems Management 5 years as a database analyst 2 years as a senior recruiter As a senior recruiter, it's more of a sales job. I want more career growth and responsibility at this point. What else do I need to do to transition from recruiter to generalist? Thinking about going back to school to get a MS in Human Resource or a MBA with specialization in Human Resource. Also, which degree would be better and any recommendation for colleges/universities. If I was to do the MBA, I would go with Loyola College. For the MS in Human Resource, I would go with Towson University but their job placement center is not resourceful or able to deliver results. Need feedback. Thanks.
