Human Resources Recruiter Job Questions & Answers

I've been actively searching for full-time work for about 2 years. I work in a very niche field, but have been fortunate to be holding contract work the last two years. I've been around the job searching block more than once, but yet again I am looking for more ways to better get my resume to the front of the pile, or even speed up the usually terribly slow hiring process. My question is.. If I apply for a position online (via online job app or email), is it wrong if I contact the company's human resources or recruiter employees by phone after creeping up their contact info from the company website, LinkedIn, or other websites where their work phones/emails may be located? Would simply like to call to make a very forward attempt to say "I really want this job" and generally inquire about the position and timeframe for hiring. I tried calling human resource employees in the past, but had no luck. In fact, I usually was never able to get in touch with them, only getting voicemails, and never getting a callback. When I would bug a front desk to speak with a recruiter, they usually got angry and said they wouldn't be able to help me..... Is it a good or bad move to call these people after I put in a job application? Would there be a better person to call or email? (Like someone from the specific department I am applying for)

What are ways that human resources and other job recruiters verify someones education background? Is it really possible to verify if someones degree and transcripts are fake? Does an employer need the applicants permission to contact his or her schools registrars office to request transcripts?

During a job interview, when you ask questions or when the interviewer asks if you have any questions, how many questions should you ask to show interest in the job. How many questions is too little or too much to ask? I would love to have answers from anybody who has been an interviewer or who has worked in human resources or as a recruiter. Please only serious answers.

For the last 4 months, I have submitted endless resumes to the online databases such as monster.com, careerbuilder.com, and HotJob.com. Also, applied online to large to mid size companies in the Baltimore, MD area from commerical to government jobs. My qualifications: BS in Information Systems Management 5 years as a database analyst 2 years as a senior recruiter As a senior recruiter, it's more of a sales job. I want more career growth and responsibility at this point. What else do I need to do to transition from recruiter to generalist? Thinking about going back to school to get a MS in Human Resource or a MBA with specialization in Human Resource. Also, which degree would be better and any recommendation for colleges/universities. If I was to do the MBA, I would go with Loyola College. For the MS in Human Resource, I would go with Towson University but their job placement center is not resourceful or able to deliver results. Need feedback. Thanks.

Can someone hopefully with Human Resources or Recruiter experience provide some feedback. I will continue to look for other positions but should I take this as a polite rejection? First time I ever encounter this. Usually you will get a definite yes or no but this seems like undecided so it could go either way. Serious responses please. Thank you for replying

For independent Recruiters out there recruiting in the medical, accounting and IT industries. How would you rate this job offer I received for recruiting for the medical, accounting and IT industries. 1) Cold calling developing my own accounts, in other words no job orders will be issued to me. I have to find my own job orders for my candidates. 2) Work from home 3) Entry level with training 4) Of Course recruiting, matching candidates, screening, qualifying, etc. 5) 50?ommission split on first 2 placements and after 60?n all future placements, even though I have to prospect to get the job orders and on top of that recruit. I am new to this industry but I've always thought that recruiters suppose to only recruit and NOT find job orders also... I guess I'm wrong... Finding job orders and recruiting is a little difficult I think because you are doing 2 different jobs at 1 time.

So I really wanted to find a job in the hospital. I know it's hard for my because I have never had a job but I did a lot of volunteering. I was a patient at that hospital, did my physical therapy there, and I also volunteered there. I talked to someone at the human resources and I emailed her my resume. She called me back 2 weeks later and she said she forwarded my resume to the pharmacy recruiter. So what do I now? Should I try to keep in touch with the recruiter or call that lady in the HR? It's been about 3 weeks. She said they were hiring in the summer but I don't see the job listing online yet. I am so frustrated. Since she forwarded my resume to the recruiter, does that mean the recruiter will contact me for sure or not? :( HELP! I also know a pharmacist who works at the hospital. Should I ask him to help me out? How should I approach him? HE seems to like me and he always says hi to me like today.. but i'm sure a lot of students asked him before.. I'm just scared of getting rejected..
